Wolfgünt Van Halen Behind The Music review

Post by BernieTaupson »

I watched the WVH Behind the Music tonight.

It's 75% Van Halen's 2000-2020 Behind the Music. Some of it is some of the same stories we've heard of how Wolfgang got Dave back in the band. They go into more details about Ed's battles with addiction in the early-mid 2000s and what it took to finally get Ed sober. They also go a good deal into Ed's death, including details of the cancer and strokes and pictures of Ed in the hospital that I would've rather not seen. Nothing graphic, but still heavy. It also provides a reasonable explanation around Wolf's response to 316 being written for him, but played years earlier.

Definitely skip if you're not a fan of Val, clearly she's featured heavily.

It was exploitative. The decline of EVH much more so than WVH building a solo career for himself. They got to his 2 albums during the closing minutes.

Distance... Dave Grohl and the Hawkins tribute... internet trolls... ugh! Can't remember who, but someone brought up the fact that at one point, Ed's house was such a fucking mess that another house somewhere was rented for Wolf to stay at when spending time with Ed. We all know you just can't mention that point in history... ever.

Talking about Ed's stroke after the motorcycle accident was pretty jarring. Not being able to convey his thoughts... the loss of feeling in his hand. Thanks, Val.

And the irony of Wolf tweeting this a year or two back :

“Fuck @ReelzChannel, fuck everyone that works on this show, and fuck you if you watch it. Fucking disgusting trying to glamorize someone's death from cancer. Pathetic and heartless.”

Guess it’s okay when it’s being done on an authorized show to promote himself. The Reelz documentary never showed photos of Ed on his death bed or went into this level of detail either.

""""""""""""""""""WVH building a solo career for himself.""""""""""""""""""""

Is a laughable sentence... considering he's been handed everything on a silver platter (not a spoon).

And yeah, I know... it's not a popular opinion to NOT kiss the guy's ass, and worship him... but I could GAF what anyone else thinks.

Let's not forget all the folks who wanna add "But his Dad just died..." going on 4 years later...

A lot of people lose their parents, relatives, etc..

You forgot “he’s just a kid” when he’s in his 30s.
