I saw them only once before Tommy Thayer left. In San Diego, in 1988, they opened for Y&T. That was a fun night!
I've seen them several times since, they were fine, but it wasn't the same.

They lacked in the song department and image department.

And, they were DAMN lucky to have been able to release four major label albums.

Their "luck" in that regard was mostly a factor of being one of the bands that got in very early in the curve, they were in L.A. and got signed as far back as 1982 IIRC. And Gene Simmons trying to revive their career/take them to the next level.

They didn't get their first album out early in the curve though. In the fall of 84 Mötley, Ratt, Quiet Riot and Twisted were already big and BNB had to compete with major label debuts from WASP, Keel, Icon, Dokken, Giuffria, Autograph.... not an easy task and BNB had nothing that stood out.

kalodner's attention was dealing with breaking whitesnake and aerosmith. black n' blue didn't receive the same amount of marketing dollars from geffen that others received and they didn't have very good management. very under-rated band.
