Nigeria has a good goalie and Argentina wasn't very good today. They will improve. Two goals today from former/current ManU players.WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:Nigeria is awful. How Argentina isn't up by 6 is beyond me.

Whoa USA scored a fantastic goal. There was nothing the goal keeper could do.

Fuckin' Capello, starting with Milner and King, one a permanent crock who can't train all week and Milner's been ill.
Green has been embarrassed all season at West Ham so this is nothing new. Terrible match to watch, pretty boring.
Fuckin' Heskey, just missed a one on one!

Heskey was the man of the match on Soccernet's match summary. Ha. They should let Defoe play. Green's mistake costing two points may prove crucial.MickeyG wrote: Green has been embarrassed all season at West Ham so this is nothing new. Terrible match to watch, pretty boring.

It wont. Thanks to the whole seeding bullshit, England will sail through the group stage with ease.Hellsinkey wrote:Green's mistake costing two points may prove crucial.
All the top seeded teams will get through the group stages, which makes the whole thing a waste of fucking time until the knockout rounds....

When Paul Robinson came onto the scene a number of years back I thought he'd be Englands #1 for years. His career stalled and England haven't been able to find a decent keeper since.
Carragher got embarrassed by Altidore and proves it was a bad move by Capello to even have him in the squad. Chelsea's midfield must be awesome because Fat Lampard was a passenger today.

Anybody else getting tired of those vuvuzela horns ?
It starting to irritate the shit out of me, tried a few channels to see if they weren't so loud there but no luck. Yeah a belgian channel but the commentary sucked so went back
Oh and we need more close ups of hot chicks in the crowd !
Cappello should get his ass kicked. Rooney doesn't play well on that spot and was miserable as hell. At one point he was picking up balls from the midfield.
Players as Lampart, Gerrard, Terry and Rooney should speak up and ask him what the fuck he's doing. The strange thing is that they did pretty good in the qualifying rounds.
I think the amount of foreigners in the premier league is starting to hurt the national team. A lot of clubs don't even have anybody brittish in their starting line ups. Coaches from the national team has to round up players that barely play at their own clubs except a few big names.
Italy seems to have the same problem with the amount of foreigners in their league but always come up with a pretty solid national squad but that generation is getting old. The youth players in England and Italy need playing minutes at their club to get (international) experience but hardly get a chance cause there's some big name on that position so they go to a smaller club.

England's goalie pulled a Bill Buckner.

Yeah, instead of clips of the coaches on the sidelines. I don't need to see Maradona or Capello display their Latin temperament.SLASH1976 wrote: Oh and we need more close ups of hot chicks in the crowd !
They won a lot but I don't think they set the world a light. This is what Capello brings, results not performances.SLASH1976 wrote: The strange thing is that they did pretty good in the qualifying rounds.
It may change a little bit with the new rules the premier league is bringing in for next season. Squad size will be limited and a certain number of home grown players will be required. The definition of home grown is any player that has spent at least 3 years at an English of Welsh club before the age of 21.SLASH1976 wrote: I think the amount of foreigners in the premier league is starting to hurt the national team. Robert Green has been announced as BPs new CEO. Our reporter said "He's an expert on spillages and his eagerness to help America in their difficult situation won't go unnoticed."

Every time he goes for a ball, you hold your breath. I can see him giving away a penalty at some point.MickeyG wrote:Carragher got embarrassed by Altidore and proves it was a bad move by Capello to even have him in the squad. The other two games were a lot more entertaining than the England Match.

They weren't playing anyone but I was impressed by Koreas break aways. Pity they don't have a goal scorer.

since capello told wayne rooney to calm down he doesn't look like the same player. he has to be aggressive that's his style of play.

Slovenia takes the lead...that makes the group more interesting if they hold on.

Funny thing about the Vuvuzelas is that Sepp Bladder refused to ban them because they're supposedly an "African tradition." In actual fact the Africans apparently got the idea from MLS, which has thankfully all but phased them out since the early years. Used to be the only kind of identifiable atmosphere at MLS games was little kids honking those irritating plastic horns, and now South Africa is annoying the whole world with them.
Re: ***OFFICIAL*** 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP thread
Ghana's win makes group D interesting. Doubly so, as group C plays group D in the next round. If Germany wins the group, England needs to win C so they avoid them.

Re: ***OFFICIAL*** 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP thread
As a fan of a nation that played at the Confederations Cup last year I can tell you that by the third or fourth day, I didn't even notice the vuvuzelas anymore. You just kind of get used to them.
England can blame the loss of two points on Green but they are in trouble in the back and Lampard and Gerrard just seem to get in each others way more than anything else. Just partner Lampard up front with Rooney since all that FL does anyway is run in front of goal looking to score. He's barely a midfielder whenever England gets close to goal.

I swear to god, on a stack of bibles. I just said to my wife that it sounded like the intro to WTTJ and a swarm of bee's mixed together. Kinda trippy when someone hears the same thing out of an insane sound. Kind of like humming to the tone of yer vacuum. Or maybe not..lolHellsinkey wrote:It sounds on tv like first couple of notes of Welcome To The Jungle on repeat. Der-der-der-der.quiksand_tumbleweed wrote:Oh my god! Should have made a bet. Thanks Rob Green!pieceofme wrote:The USA will draw against England in the opener 1-1 imo.Drunk Kennedy wrote:being fairly "dumb" in all things soccer...how does the USA team stack up? do they have any shot in their group?
They should qualify and makes a decent stab at the tournament. I can see the last 16 being a realistic target and depending on the luck of the draw possibly the quarters. Semis would be pushing it but you never know!
Germany looking impressive so far.

germany's first goal was offside. why didn't the commentators say anything?
or show the replay that showed him offside more than once?
