http://www.csnbayarea.com/05/24/11/Sour ... eedID=5986Mike Brown will not be the next head coach of the Golden State Warriors.
Instead, Brown, the former coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will be named the new coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to two league sources.
Brown was considered a frontrunner for the Warriors' job, but is expected to sign a four-year, $18 million contract with L.A. -- succeeding Phil Jackson as coach.
The Warriors have had informal discussions with approximately a dozen candidates, and owner Joe Lacob said on Tuesday that the team's head coaching search would start to pick up.
All indications were that Brown, who guided the Cavaliers to an NBA Finals appearance in 2007, was very much in the mix for the Golden State job. Brown was also said to be a candidate in Indiana.
Brown coached the Cavaliers for five seasons, from 2005 through 2010, and led them into the postseason each year. Members of the Warriors' front office -- excluding Lacob -- had talked informally to Brown about two weeks ago.
The Warriors are also said to be interested in current Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw, Boston assistant coach Lawrence Frank, former Minnesota Timberwolves coach and GM Kevin McHale and Dallas assistant Dwane Casey, among others.
Shaw, who had been Jackson's top assistant in L.A., was considered the frontrunner for the Lakers job. Shaw was endorsed by Kobe Bryant and most of the Lakers' players.
With Brown taking the Lakers job, it means there are currently three head coaching openings in the NBA: Golden State, Houston and Indiana. It is possible that jobs could come open in Minnesota and Detroit.

MARK CUBAN TALKIN SHIT EARLY IN THE SEASON:
Remember When Mark Cuban Was Making Fun Of The Miami Heat?
On the eve of the 2011 NBA Finals and the rematch between the Mavs and Heat, just look at what Mark Cuban had to say back when LeBron and the Heat were struggling early on (via Sports Radio Interviews).
"Hallelujah, boys, is that great or what? … How cool is that? Now, they could still turn it around and win out for all that matters, but you’re starting to see some of the problems. Any team with a strong, big guy that can score, they’re getting abused by. Paul Millsap goes out and pulls a Tracy McGrady. What, Tracy McGrady scored 13 and 30 and Paul Millsap scores 11 in 29 seconds or something like that?
They just don’t have size to battle. They have the fewest points in the paint of any team and that’s tough. … My buddy Dan Gilbert is smiling all the way, too. Again, it’s early in the season and you never quite know how it’s going to play out, but how glorious."

TNT's Cameraman Probably Got A Stern Lecture Last Night. During halftime, TNT came back a few seconds too early from commercial break, and America got to see their cameraman creepin on the Miami fans:

Re: NBA SEASON STARTS NOW!!!
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Daniel Gibson took issue with some of LeBron James' comments about his former teammates in Cleveland.
After Miami defeated Chicago last week to advance to the NBA Finals, James talked about his decision to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.
"I wanted to team up with some guys that would never die down in the moment," James said. "The opportunity presented itself with this great organization and we made it happen."
Speaking on The Dugout Sports Show Podcast on Wednesday, Gibson said, "The way it's said, you can't help but take it personal. ... I don't think great players should feel the need to say this about a team or say that about a team. I think what it all boils down to if you're great, you go play great, be great and everybody will realize you're great. And you wouldn't have to let it be known that everybody else was less great.
"Great players shouldn't have to do that.
"So I feel like it's kind of an admission. He might have needed some help. He might have needed to go somewhere and find someone who is a little greater so maybe he wouldn't die down in those moments."

Last night's game was outstanding. I considered going to bed with 6 minutes left with the 15 point margin and all the momentum going in Miami's direction. Glad I didn't.

Re: NBA SEASON STARTS NOW!!!
I was ready to start blaming that corrupt fuck, Joey Crawford for Miami's big lead and sticking it to Mark Cuban again, then the Heat started to celebrate with 5 mintues to go and put the auto-pilot on inciting Jason Terry and Shawn Marion.
In the presser after the game, man Marion was still would up. Couldn't blame him, that was an awesome comeback!

Speaking of Terry...the guy is good, but doesn't he have at least one supremely boneheaded play every game? WTF was he thinking on that Chalmers 3?ParaDime77 wrote:I was ready to start blaming that corrupt fuck, Joey Crawford for Miami's big lead and sticking it to Mark Cuban again, then the Heat started to celebrate with 5 mintues to go and put the auto-pilot on inciting Jason Terry and Shawn Marion.

The Mavs also made a nice comeback against the Lakers in game 3.
Their performance this year reminds me of Alex Rodriguez in the 2009 playoffs. After so many years of choking they finally came through.
