Is it decided yet? He did a mediocre job as Finnish team manager.pieceofme wrote:Hodgson as England manager.
So today is the game of the season. Let's see if United park the bus.

I fuckin' guessed it. Utd should have performed better in previous games. There goes the championship? 7 goals advantage for Citeh is a lot for two games. I hope Newcastle will fight for fourth place. Poor game. Oh yeah Fergie, where are the world class midfielders?
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2011/2012 Season thread*
Very poor to throw away the 8 point lead. Pep in in the summer please. The manager has been shown up a few times this season, and not addressing the midfield is embarrassing for a manager of his standing.

Pep would be very nice. I'm afraid Chelsea has a bigger chequebook.

Agreed. Went for the same tactic that he goes for in European away matches. Did not work at all. Man City deserved to win.Hellsinkey wrote: I fuckin' guessed it. Shouldn't play Giggs and Scholes together anymore and why Park? Valencia and Wellbeck should have started. Oh well, it's over now. I can't remember when was the last season without any titles.

Chelsea get 10 minutes overtime and still lose to Newcastle. I hope Newcastle beat Citeh.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2011/2012 Season thread*
Yeah, United need a big help from Newcastle. It's really tight there for 3rd and 4th.

And Pardew for manager of the year for me. Really impressed.
Think I had them down for relegation.

Ball didn't cross the line completely as it should. The best part was that prick Suarez complaining to the assistant. One! One! Juan! Juan!

I had Wigan, Swansea and Blackburn. That was 1/3 right, close with Wigan.pieceofme wrote:I'm hoping so.ShearMagic wrote:I think the magpies will win both their games and finish in third place.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2011/2012 Season thread*
It was agony to watch as a fan. Citeh score two in extra time. So close... The championship was really lost in the Everton game. This time it's more of Utd losing, than Citeh winning.
Two reasons for losing this year. Midfield not sorted out and the need to rely on two midfielders in late 30's. Two world class midfielders and a defender is needed. Attack was alright, but Berbatov who could have scored again 20 something goals was warming the bench. Madness not to let him play more. I think he was Utd's second best goalscorer, but played few games. His goals would have mattered now. Welbeck is overrated and Chicarito was lame this season.
It was season nothing, more of that for England at Euros.

I disagree.Hellsinkey wrote:The championship was really lost in the Everton game. This time it's more of Utd losing, than Citeh winning.
I think the 6-1 ass whupping City put on United in Old Trafford had more to do with it than the Everton or Wigan matches. ManU's road form was outstanding but City's home record was stellar as they only dropped two points at home while United had two draws and two losses at home.
I do agree that the "aged movement" with Scholes and Giggs needs to be reversed. Maybe sign Freddy Adu? Just kidding. Just watched him assist on a goal while I was typing. And I also agree with you about Berbatov. He has more class on the ball than everyone on the team outside of Rooney and maybe Giggs. I've loved watching him play since his days at Leverkusen. He deserved better than his limited play this season.

The good thing about this is Utd has to spend now. This has been one of the worst sides in years for Utd. At least it wasn't Liverpool winning. Oh yeah, they're now a midtable team. I wonder what would be Cliff Byfords take on Qpr's season?
On to the Euros then and the silly transfer season.

Not trying to be an ass but I totally agree and that's why I'm glad they didn't win it. The EPL has already dropped behind La Liga and, like it or not, the Bundesliga is on the rise. Serie A is in self search mode currently but easier to watch compared to a few years ago that's for sure.Hellsinkey wrote:This has been one of the worst sides in years for Utd.
I'd still put EPL at second . . . but a shaky second with Zee Germans catching up fast.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2011/2012 Season thread*
Yeah, gut wrenching at the end to have been so close.
It's been a strange season. Despite crashing in the cups and in Europe, United reached 89 points which is a great haul to not actually win the league. I'd have took 89 points at the beginning of the season. But to lose an 8 point lead is horrible.
The Prem is still the most exciting league for me. It's amazing that with the money Chelsea and city have, they haven't closed the league off like Real and Barca have in Spain. La Liga is a joke league. Outside the top 2 the Bundesliga is weak. Serie A is still in transition.

I think United are done for a long time.
City are beginning a dynasty. They have all the money in the world to keep winning. Man United will now be the 2nd club of Manchester. All good things come to an end.

I dunno, I think Chelsea have shown money can bring you so far. IF the FFP regulations have some balls to them I see City in some trouble. There was a big splash recently about City signing a contract with Nike, moving from Umbro. It doubled their yearly kit deal, but it was only for 12 million a year. United get 25 mil and that deal was signed about 10 years ago. City will find, just like Chelsea that there's only so far they can grow. Their wage bill is well over the top, just like Chelseas. The sheik has spent just under 1 billion pounds. All to finish above United on goal difference.nycyankee wrote:I think United are done for a long time.
