My first thought was the foul was in the box but it was a poor call on the replay. The killer was the PK miss. I've yet to see a good reffed match, this game was no different with double warnings, the non Red and no calls and yellows.

This was the best I've watched the US play. Up till now every match they had troubles finishing including the two missed opportunities in the first half, one was a good deflection but feel they could have went in 1 up at halftime.
The first half wasn't what I expected, both teams pressured and looked good early but Germany had problems defending US in the box. I haven't played or kept up for so long It's taking a bit to get back into the game play.

I'd rather watch US beat England but revenge vs Japan would be nice as long as England don't win the cup I'll survive but no one expects England to beat Japan.

5 shutouts and 513 minutes without giving up a goal for the US. SLD said it, defense wins championships. I'm not sure how many shots Germany had on goal but it wasn't many.

Good match with both teams quality cancelling each other out. Shame about the non-red card to Johnston on the German PK and the PK should not have been given to the USA a few minutes later.

Alex Morgan is pretty and that's it. She has some skills as a footballer but she's too stupid to pass when she has no angle and this has been a problem with her and Wambach for about a decade. Selfishness is important at times in a striker but so is intelligence and this team is loaded with athletic and stupid forwards.

Their foul was worse than the US call and the same could be said for England's PK shot. Japans was clearly out of the box while England's shouldn't have been called.

The winning own goal was fitting. Guess England should get prop's for not just making it this far but that close.

I hope Germany beats up England and I'm normally a fan of England all things in general. Maybe I'll change my mind tomorrow. After watching the matches I'm not really digging the England woman's team.

I'm very disappointed with the German performance, so I wouldn't even mind if they get humiliated once more. Silvia Neid is fucking up her legacy. Last World Cup was already bad, this one was pathetic. Both France (all the way) and USA (at least the last game) were strategically superior. Enough with the ridiculous 90s kick and rush shit. It's not working against teams who can actually play.

Third place games are such a farce anyway. I'll be at a festival doing blow while they lose.

Germany vs England = Worst match ever, could you fucking believe that ref? I've been bitching all tourney long but this was a joke. The best was when the announcer asked that rule committee guy what he thought of the ref and he said
"I honestly think she's angry she didn't get to ref the 1st place match and she don't care what happens on the field today."

Maybe it's just me but I got the feeling a lot of players on the field didn't give a shit either. More on the German side like fuck 2nd or 3rd, this ref and this match. It was another dirty match, no doubt I would have had words with the ref till I got a card.

After all the shit they got away with the ref called that foul for a PK, that was practically a dive compared to how the game was played. Another laugh when they asked that committee dude about it he said "After all that's happened in this game and she called that? I think at this point she's lost the book and is calling what she feels like"

Don't recall the Germany/England game being dirty. A couple of shoulder challenges which were a little before the ball were probably fouls, but there wasn't any elbowing or bad tackles.

Japans defending in the final was a joke. Set piece defending especially. The goalkeeping for the 4th was especially hilarious. Goalkeeping is one aspect of the womens game that doesn't seem to have evolved unlike the rest of the game. The players can play some lovely passes at times. The commitment quite often beats the efforts of some of the men who are earning so much more money. Oh, and the officiating is awful too.

I thought the fourth goal was mostly due to looking into the sun and the element of surprise. She just tripped and looked like a fool. But it's not like you don't see this kinda stuff at least once a season on the highest level of male club football too.

She was playing way the fuck out, I felt bad for her but they're some of the best goals in Soccer..Ever, men's and women's. As a kid if I seen the goalie playing out I'd take the shot every time, they were my favorite then and slay me now.
She was playing out, the sun, taken off guard along with the stumble and down 3-0 she was toast all playing a factor. It was a beaut either way. That shot gave me wood.

Even in the shade I noticed Hope constantly had her hand up to fight the glares coming from the far side but like you said it's part of the game in every outdoor sport. That 4th goal was at the perfect time with the sun. It wouldn't matter which team made it, I could watch it 50 times.

The first goal off the corner when she came flying in like a rocket at the perfect angle was a blast. The second touch on that volly was sweetness and the 5th set up goal was another perfectly played shot.

I thought all the goals were fantastic, the 3rd might have been pushed over and the 4th might have been prevented but the other 3 were deadly.


I still didn't like the Germany vs England match, there's a replay of a header where in the background you see an English chick forearm check a German to the neck as they was jumping...Maybe 3' away from the play but it wasn't called. So I kept watching off the ball and seen all sorts of unnecessary plays that was roughing.

Not sure where you live or your coverage but the announcers were calling the game like it was a free for all. The teams played hard but got the feeling neither was big on being 3rd or 4th. Like you said and it's been said, the ref didn't give a fuck, like flipping a coin. I loved how after the game the ref was still being yelled at face to face by players.

I was watching Fox Sports coverage.

To be honest I often found myself arguing with the commentators in this world cup. I thought they came out with a lot of shite. I just didn't think it was dirty.

The 4th was poor for me coz she didn't get back quick enough after being way too far out and then fell over as it bounced over her and went into the goal at a lowish height. Yeah, there's at least one scored every season at a high level in mens soccer, Charlie Adam got one last season for Stoke, but they're usually better strikes than Lloyds.
