Fuck Bud Selig.
there needs to be a strong campaign against the legacy of Bud Selig. what he did to the game is unforgivable, unless you are an owner.
he made the owners plenty of money and for that they won't say a disparaging word against the man. right now Bud is laughing all
the way to the bank, resting on his 8 figure salary and not giving a shit about the game.
Bud is the O.J. Simpson of baseball. he murdered the game while in charge and blamed the crime on others.
FUCK YOU BUD SELIG
He was elected by the Veteran's Comittee to the HOF today. John Schuerholz ( which I agree with ) was elected too.
you just ruined my night with that news. S.O.B.

A. Chapman is telling the Cubs he wants a 6 year deal.
C'mon man, you cannot expect any team is going to sign you
for 6 years. Don't be so greedy and do the right thing.
Sign a 4 year deal, with the club option for year 5 and get back to The Bronx.

Relievers are going to be getting paid.

Washington has told Harper they will not meet his 400m contract demands. Half a billion? Trout is worth that much. Bonds would have been. Harper? No.

The trade speculation for Sale is going crazy. The Nats have a loaded farm and are in discussions. Which leads me to some Melancon observations I read elsewhere.

Washington is loaded with young talent, built to be competitive longer than SF's core. I wonder how much, if any influence Dusty Baker being at the helm had to do with his decision.

Florida is making a big push for Jensen.

Fuck Bud Selig.
Gets worse every year.........
Just another reason not to watch the all snub game or give a fuck about the break...It's as bad as the NFL. I liked when the game meant something even if it's the winner got home field, now if they could change the all CUBS voting system.

The All-Snub lollygagging game. Why even have it. I even hate the Derby changes.

Is there a reason the MLB and NFL feels the need to change the fucking game and rules every year now?

Yankees to honor Derek Jeter with number retirement and Monument Park plaque on Sunday, May 14
The New York Yankees today announced that they will honor Derek Jeter during a pregame ceremony with the retirement of his No. 2 uniform number and the unveiling of his Monument Park plaque on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017.

Jeter will become the 22nd player in franchise history to have his number retired and first since teammates Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte had their numbers retired during the 2015 season.

I don't think anyone saw that coming. I was pretty sure Washington was going to get him.

Brian Cashman called Boston "the Warriors of baseball."

http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0 ... 09168908-4

I can't be the only one that sees the irony in that. A dude that spent over a billion dollars for ONE ring and the biggest choke job in sports history talking shit over another team's fortune?

Uh oh. Better retire another number and fast! It's the Yankee way.

Did you not read my post above? Jeter is getting his number retired. Damn, I feel old now that this is happening. Going to try hard to be
in The Bronx that day to watch the ceremony in person.
C'mon Kill, if you were still a die hard Sux fan, you might be able to relate to this once great rivalry. The two teams are not as great
as they used to be and no longer go after the jugular when playing, but the rivalry still has some life in it. Cashman was just
adding to the mix.

Nah. Damon, Ellsbury ( still can't believe that contract  ), the rivalry is long gone.

The players are buddies now. Back in the Fisk/Munson days they would have killed each other. Not now.

It's funny though. If Boston wins it all, Tampa is going to blow their top with Cashman and just start signing every superstar again. 2004 neutered NY. Like I said. A billion spent. ONE ring. That's not very successful. In fact that is the 100% opposite of doing a good job.

Boston signs Mitch Moreland to a one year deal.

Dombrowski is going all in. Holy shit.

Sox also traded Travis Shaw and 2 prospects to Brewers for Tyler Thornburg.
I've never seen a top farm system go from 60 to 0 in a few hours time before.
Looks like Panda is in some sort of shape other than round and will be the 3rd baseman.
Maybe they can finally get rid of Buchholz but of course, they are a little too left handed now so they'll keep him.

He used to do that annually in SF too. Come the ASB, he'll be fat again.

KC trade Wade Davis to Chicago for Jorge Soler.

Ian Desmond and the Rockies agree to 5-70m deal.

*ETA

Washington gets Adam Eaton from White Sox for prospects Lucas Giulato, Reynaldo Lopez, and Dane Dunning. With the Sale trade CHW now has the #1-3 top rated prospects on mlb.

O's GM rejects Bautista: 'Fans don't like him'

this is by far the best baseball off-season news of 2016.
joey bats and his bad attitude have ruined his chances of landing in Baltimore.
only one of the top hitting parks in the game.

He's not liked by a few fanbases. Texas being another one. Plus, he's on the wrong side of 30 with declining numbers. That's why he and Encarcion haven't been picked up yet.

Matt Holiday's no-trade clause with the MFY only covers one team. The Oakland Athletics. He played there for like 93 games in 2009. He apparently really wasn't too fond of it.

MFY sign Aroldis Chapman to 5/86m deal. Includes limited no trade for 3 years. Basically he can't be traded to any California team.

Now that Chapman is off the table, Marlins offer Kenley Jensen 5/88m+ deal. Club has not confirmed. Unless he just loves Mattingly and LA offers no where close. I don't see why he would take it.

Since the loss of Fernandez, I see the Dodgers as more Championship caliber than the Marlins right now.

This is your chance to give Cashman the credit he deserves. He loans Chapman for 3 months and receives
great prospects in return. Now he resigns Chapman and still has those prospects. I think Cashman sure
does have an idea of what he is doing.

No doubt. I don't think the Yankees are necessarily World Series bound next season, because their rotation is Tanaka and a bunch of ???. They will be soon though.

Kenny Hahn and the Chicago White Sox firesale/rebuild looks to be the same way.

It was for 5/85.5m. It's been speculated that St. Louis stepped in as payback for the Cubs "stealing" Heyward.

Something that has become apparent for long suffering franchises ( Chicago '16, Boston '04, SF '10, Philly '08, etc ) is the 25 are golden forever after. Damon is still loved in Boston, Wilson in SF, I can't think of anyone else that went to the rival team, but Fowler will be too.

Twins top prospect Yorman Landa dies in a car wreck in Venezula.

Former SF, now Milwaukie prospect Phil Bickford ( traded for Wil Smith [ no relation to the Fresh Prince ] ) suspended 50 games for second drug of abuse positive test ( weed ).

Marlins OF prospect Casey Soltis also suspended 50 games for the demon weed. Damn Rasta prospects.

Bluejays RHP prospect Pedro Loficial suspended 72 games for positive test for real drug metabolites of Stanozolol.

One drug turns you into Roger Clemens. One turns you into Bob Marley. Meanwhile, piece of shit former commish Bud Selig is getting into the Hall Of Fame.
