Duquette says sending struggling Machado to AAA an option. As more knowledge of his bat throwing incident comes to light, I think they should demote him on principle.
O's don't have the balls to send Machado down to AAA.
Forget about sending him to AAA, send him to high A ball if the team wants him to get the message loud n clear

They can't do that though. The MLBPA wouldn't allow it and it's counter productive to break him out of slump. Why send him down to face basically 19 year olds who can't throw breaking stuff?
He'll be fined and suspended. One of the things said about Machado and his promotion to the show was his signs of maturity. A lot of people were surprised by his actions and since he has a good record prior to, he won't be punished too severly.

You really are a hot-take-spouting, foaming-at-the-mouth retard. I can't frigging take it.
Send him to A ball. The fuck outta here.

You really need to relax and stop taking this board so seriously.
Go get some sunshine. Call a friend. Play a video game. Watch a chick flick
Anything else but stalking posters on Sludge.
Why do you take every single post so literally? As if sending him to A ball was a serious request? And who the fuck cares???

Guys, I know shit about baseball but I want to go see a game when I visit the US in September. Are the Kansas City Royals a good night out? One of their games fits nicely into my schedule.

Good young, up and coming team. Who are they playing?
Baseball is often about the star players on a team, or who's pitching.

Wolf stated it perfectly. You should have fun regardless though. In September the pennant races are on so there's a pretty good chance the game you catch could be meaningful. I'd check it out.
Today marked the 3rd late inning implosion in a row for SF against Colorado. Two were bullpen, one was a combination of pitching and defense.

Thanks guys, sounds good. They're up against the White Sox on the days I can make it. Will that be a good fixture? Also, will it still be fun if I'm going on my own? I don't really get the rules but my sport-hating American wife is refusing to come along.

Not the best matchup in the world, but the beauty of a 162 game season is that you never know when you'll see something great and unique. Plus ball parks are generally happy places to be, from the grass and foul lines, to the food smells, to the touches of home and history that ever park has.
In terms of rules, baseball has a lot of quirks. You'll get the basics. 9 innings, an inning being the home and visiting team each having a turn to hit, 3 outs per inning, 4 balls = a walk, 3 strikes = an out, etc. If a balk gets called on a pitcher you'll probably ask what the fuck was that? I've been watching baseball 35 years and I still do.
I would tell your wife to come along for the experience, not so much the game.

That actually could be a good matchup. Sure, right now the season's not halfway over yet and Detroit isn't as dominate as expected. KC is 1.5 back and on a 7 game winning streak. I don't really expect Chicago to be in the hunt come September, but they are in the same division and will be doing everything they can to make a strong showing against an opponent.
That could be a really good game with a lot of fan support, hype, etc., if they're fighting for the playoffs. You should go to the game it's an authentic "American experience" like apple pie and firearms.
Man I hated him against the Cubs in 84. Loved his hitting style. He and Boggs coming into the league at the same time was a golden age of baseball for people my age. And by all accounts the single best student of the game as far as watching tape on pitchers.

He averaged 209 hits a season.
He stole 56 bases in 1987. 8 time batting champ. 5 gold gloves. Could have played in the NBA.
What a ballplayer.
I'm recalling this from memory, but Ted Williams was from San Diego and when he'd fly back he met Tony Gwynn. Tony said that everything he learned about hitting was after talking to Ted. Williams loved nothing more than talking hitting and saw something in Tony.
I also remember seeing it being said on Baseball Tonite that Tony was something like 4 away from .400 when the strike happened. Jake Yonkel looked into it since George Brett was the closest to it since 1941, but with the season ending early his BAA was adjusted. Remarkable hitter.
Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters to have Tommy John.
Andrew McCutchen and Micheal Brantley honored as NL & AL players of the week.
