Someone doesn't understand what the word overrated means. I never said he wasn't a great player. He really is. He's just not as good as a lot of people make him out to be. Thus he is overrated.

That he was even included in the top 100 players of all time is a joke.

Malkin > Toews.
It's all debatable.

Malkin has more pure offensive skill; Toews is a more well rounded player.

Toews was quite the scorer in junior; he just doesn't need to purely play that role in Chicago.

If I'm building a team, he certainly has a place on it after the usual suspects: Crosby, McDavid, Matthews, etc.

Well, he should get on it considering the Blackhawks have scored 0 goals so far!

Not writing the Blackhawks off yet, but Toews better get going soon!

Also, with that contract, I doubt he would be that high on the list when building a team. Those deals are going to kill the Hawks. Thats okay though, they have won enough recently!

over rated: to value or praise too highly
the stats speak for themselves. he's won team and individual awards by the bucketful. won a stanley cup and olympic gold in the same year. if you want to talk over rated eric lindros is at the top of the list.

You still don't seem to understand what overrated means. When people are saying he was equal to or better than Crosby a couple of years ago, it was utterly laughably. He's nowhere close to Crosby.

Also, a lot of those are team acheivements.Team Canada is stacked. I'm pretty sure they would have won those medals without Toews! And even the Hawks were a stacked team when they won those cups. He's a great player, a franchise centre, but the amount of worship and praise he gets does not match his playing ability!

Oh, and as for stats, he finished 50th in scoring in the NHL this year. And he has a $10.5m caphit. No amount of intangibles (lol) can make up that difference.

And so far he has one whopping point in the playoffs this season, and Nashville could sweep the Hawks. Although I probably just jinxed the Preds with this post!

I gave you the definition of over rated you stupid idiot. I've never seen anyone over value what he's accomplished. he might not have the same scoring touch as Crosby but he's every bit as good as him maybe even better in some areas.
most of those team wins......he was the captain, leading scorer and named the mvp.
if anything the guy is under rated. you have ZERO argument and NOTHING to back up your opinion.

Good lord you are seriously overrating him. Every bit as good as Crosby.   Fuck off with that nonsense. This is exactly why he is overrated, because of idiots like you saying these things.

Under the radar! Have you been living under a rock! The amount of coverage and love the Blackhawks get in the hockey world makes him far from under the radar.

You're the stupid idiot as you clearly still don't understand what overrated means.

Toews gets loads of attention. What are are wittering on about! You seriously have been living under a rock for the last several years. I've guess you've missed all those winter classics. The Toews hype is ridiculous. Thus why I think he is overrated.

And listen shit for brains, I said it is laughable that people put him on par with Crosby. Like you did! As an overall player, Crosby is a tier above Toews.

Kesler, Koivu, and Bergeron are better defensively than Crosby. But you don't have people running around saying Koivu is on par with Crosby!

You still don't understand what overrated means! You really are a special type of stupid.

Oh, and the Hawks just got swept, I guess his leadership, clutchness, intangibles wasn't enough this time!

Not sure how a great player can be overrated! One of the stupidest things I have read on this board, and that says a lot!

That is your whole problem, and why you do not understand what the word overrated means! Yes, a great player can be overrated! Good lord!

dude. i gave you THE DEFINITION of over rated. YOU'RE the one that doesn't get it. you're the ONLY person saying this. not sure how a great player can be over rated. no one is saying he's gretzky, orr or mario.
You gave it, but you obviously don't understand it.

Not sure how a great player can be overrated! One of the stupidest things I have read on this board, and that says a lot!

That is your whole problem, and why you do not understand what the word overrated means! Yes, a great player can be overrated! Good lord!
that hole you're digging keeps getting deeper. everyone is just shaking their head at you. i'll give you another example of over rated and it's a guy I cheer for...roberto luongo.

Habs strategy, to win games 2-1, relying on Carey Price and Shea Weber, backfired. They rarely could get to 2!

Habs are in trouble with Toronto, Boston, Ottawa, Buffalo, Tampa, and Florida possessing so much young talent.

As great as I think Carey Price is, if he wants to stay it's going to take $10 million/year. Who will he have to play with?

Teams can't win with no depth at center/up front. With a lot of $ coming off the books this summer and next, dare I say they trade Price and take the Chicago approach? I.E. - good/mediocre goalie; all kinds of talent in front of him. Just need to find the talent though.

Malkin > Toews.
It's 7 years ago but I remember thinking that Toews was the best player in the entire 2010 Olympics and the level of talent in that tournament was SCARY
He did have a great Olympics. He's a great player. Just overrated. :)
The best player of the most competitive tournament of all time can not be overrated IMO.

As a Jackets fan, that was a bullshit interference call. Niedereiter was cross-checked into him.

The refereeing in the playoffs has been horrendous.

Glad to see the Rangers take down the Habs with Price this time.

Hope the Oilers get swept. I really hate hating on a team but fuck it, I hate them. Screw um and McDonald's.

Glad Chicago is OUT! FU-2!

Then you have NYR......Lundqvist has declined with injuries, age and they're not as deep. Henrik is locked for 4 more at $8.5m and any youth is already up.....Maybe Henrik has some healthy seasons left but NYR don't have young talent let alone anything coming up.
Rick Nash's time will be up soon...$7.8m next season may be sooner than later. I thought NYR was going to hit a brick wall a few seasons ago but I bet they have a harder time making it from now on......The Met is tough. I don't think the Rangers have much left. Vigneault has been doing a hell of a job but I think the Rangers are going down hill.

Making the playoffs and competing takes it's toll, just ask the Oilers...I mean Detroit. Rewarded for sucking, tough to sustain long runs.

Well, I do agree Luongo is overrated!

And lol at people shaking their head at me. If people don't understand why I think Toews is overrated, then this board is stupider than I thought.

Bruins hire Cassidy.
Might be a good fit but probably only for a couple of years.
