Luger killed in practice

Post by Crazy Levi »

Holy fuck, these people are hitting speeds of 90 MPH?

I'm thinking we'll see more dead lugers by the time this is over.

They just showed the video of the crash on Sportsnet. Brutal crash.

The walls in certain areas of the track are going to be raised and plexiglass added too.

Costas said last night this is the most dangerous track in Olympic history. My question - Why?
He's like the Liberace of bass & pot.

The death of a young person is always tragic, but he wasn't doing 120 on the freeway all fucked up he was living his fucking dream. I think people are missing the fact that he was doing something so few are adventurous enough to even think about attempting and that it is dangerous as fuck. Just based on the fact the he was at the olympics means he was one of the worlds best. He didn't have a career ending injury/slide into obscurity. I can think of an endless mountain of worse fates.

Call me crazy, but I doubt his idea of "living a dream" included the thought of hurtling off the luge track and into a steel beam.

Call it a hunch.

Thankfully, NBC just said they will not show the crash footage again.

The many times I've watched this event during the Olympics, there's never been a thought in my head that something like this could happen. Why? It's not suppose to happen! The track was extremely dangerous and has since been modified to keep this from happening again. WTF were people thinking when they designed it in the first place?

Sad, sad news and I hope he's the last Olympic casualty EVER.

That people dont fly off there luge when they crash, really. Thats why its a freak accident. No one in VANOC saw a reason to cover the beams, because no one could think of anyone hitting it.

They also have all the beams covered in plexi glass no one will be hitting a beam

This is terrible and so very sad........
I just heard the whole story about this...and as you boys know..I do not think death is funny at all.
I don't agree the man would have wanted to die doing anything.
However ..if he loved to go that fast...he loved to fly...........sort of speak.....
Maybe in his case he flew right into his wings and lets pray he never felt any pain...
Maybe in his case.....like a pilot kinda .....if you're going to die...die flying !!!!

They should have stopped the Olympics.I mean, when Owen Hart died in the ring, everybody put down the WWF for still having the PPV show going.

Are you nuts? Yeah they should shut the fucking Olympics down because someone died.

The games kept going on their merry way when terrorists were busy slaughtering the Isreali team in 1972, they certainly aren't going to shut it down for this.
