sky sports reporting that torres has handed in a transfer request. he clearly wants to leave anfield and liverpool won't want a player who's doesn't want to be a liverpool player. he has a buy out clause of around £50m

I thought I read that Guilleme Balague claimed there was no buy out clause in Torres' contract. Do you think he really handed in a transfer request? I thought it was more like he asked them to consider the offer. If he really wanted to leave why wait until now to hand in a transfer request? Seems fucked up to me, although nothing should surprise me in football anymore, I guess.

What do you think of Charlie Adam, Coatsy? He used to play for your lot didn't he?

Just looked on Liverpools website and sure enough they confirm Torres handed in a transfer request. Very surprised.

watched a lot of charlie when he was at ibrox, great passer but got in the 'comfort zone' and thought he didn't have improve anymore. he had become stale and a move was the best thing to happen to him. as for holloway talking of 14m for him? ain't going to happen.

I think that's just negotiating tactics by Holloway. He also probably only wants to sell in June. It's tough getting replacements in January.

It's mentioned that 45 million and Sturridge will be offered for Torres.

Yeah, but he says his bonus to stay up is more, and that is more likely with Adam on board. It's tough to stand in a players way of bettering himself just as it is with managers. It's the way of the world, not just football.

United have been shocking against Southampton. Number 19 and the Champions league are more important to Fergie, it seems.

Again Giggs makes the difference in the second half. Horrible first half, Evans and Smalling... One Southampton defender looked about to cry when Giggs made the pass to Chicarito for second.

I thought Chicarito had fucked it up, but somehow he managed to sneak it under the keeper. Much better second half performance, but a decent side would have beaten them.

Against Crawley at next round. It will be a big experience at OT and good moneywise for them. They don't have a chance, but it's very cool for them.

Apart from Rudd Van Nistelrooy, the record in England of strikers coming from the Dutch league who have good records in Holland is poor. Kezman, Alvez, and Kuyt all decent in Holland, shite in the Premier League. Kuyt can be forgiven a bit because Rafa played him on the wing, and he's stayed there.

Agreed Mickey. I'm a bit nervous about this signing. The Dutch League is nothing like the Prem and Suarez seems to be a bit of a headcase too. If Torres, doesn't go this week, it will be interesting to see how he plays, because for the most part his attitude has been shite the last year. We could get some decent players for the money the Chavs are offering. Would like to see us go after Contrao for Left back.

Very overpriced for six months at PL. Though he was their best, interesting of Newcastle to sell him now as they're fighting for getting into Euro games. Well, there's always relegation... And he said he was pushed for move. Interesting Chelsea- Liverpool on the weekend, with Torres shooting off his mouth too. This became interesting. :)

Total panic buying from the Scousers IMO. They knew Torres was going and they needed a marquee name to replace him. Except one wasn't available so they paid ridiculous money for a 'name' English forward to appease the supporters.

Yeah, 35 mil seems a bit steep for Carroll. The 8th most expensive player of all time or something.

50 mil for Torres could be good business all round. He's been shite for Liverpool for awhile, and his exit and comments afterward were low class, IMO. I don't blame him for leaving, just his exit was shabby. So good deal for Liverpool. Although the price is high, if he keeps himself fit and gets his mojo back, he could fire Chelsea. The league should be out of their reach, but I think Roman wants the CL. I still think their defence and midfield have been poor this season, but maybe Luiz can help there.

Torres could have easily handed in his request a month ago. The way he went out was pretty low. Forced Liverpool's hand. Couldn't believe we paid 35 million for Carroll but what's done is done. Hopefully he and Suarez can work well together. They are both young. Torres is a mardarse-great skill but attitude issues. Hopefully, Liverpool and Chelsea will be in the Europa League next year :)

Rooney shapes up, maybe it helped that he was in risk of getting dropped because of Chicarito.

Liverpool could do with 2 wingers to supply Carroll with crosses. Or at least someone who can deliver a ball from out wide. Beckham until the end of the season would have been a decent deal for them.

True, dutch league is pretty much the Mickey Mouse league of Europe.
Still Suarez is like obsessed with scoring which is why I don't like him that much, he's only goal is himself
