"Smokin" Joe Frazier was one of the best!

Post by KAOS »

Now he's DEAD!

Show respect to one of the best in boxing history!

Hard to believe that his friend Ali outlived him.

That is sad. Another boxer who died pretty young.

I don't know where the fuck you get the idea that they were "friends" though.

Smoking Joe hated Ali's guts. Over the last few years he claimed to have forgiven him but he spent the last several decades openly loathing him.

When they filmed the video Champions Forever in 1988, George Foreman had to get between Frazier and Ali. Frazier was drunk and wanted to start some shit with the Greatest...no shit.

Back to Joe though...he was a great boxer. If he were around today he'd probably have free reign. He was never the same after Foreman beat him though...and like Ali was REALLY never the same after the Thrilla in Manila. During that fight Ali said "They said you was washed up!" and he said "They was wrong."

I understand you obviously want the guy dead, or want to 'break the story' but can you wait until he's officially declared dead before creating these threads?

Even MC Hammer tweeted a retraction.

That was quick. Didn't they just announce he had liver cancer?

According to other reports, KAOS is a tool.

Did he manage to post something about Joe on every board?

Nope - posted the other board first and then this board - that is a total of 2 boards and that does not equal EVERY board. Loser.

You're a loser because you posted the guy was dead trying to be all exclusive, still haven't edited your original post and the guy's not dead. Dumbass.

Do you actually KNOW anything about Smokin' Joe Frazier?

I mean, you thought he and Ali were best pals and it's not like you have anything to say about him except "RESPECT!" and "HE WAS REAL GOOD AND HIS ALI FIGHTS ARE LEGENDARY!"

No shit.

Ghoulish poser with the death exclusives. Nice work.

I know a lot about boxing, Joe Frazier and even had the pleasure of meeting the man when I was a youngster. So eat a dick and know what you are talking about before you type with those stubby lil fingers Levan. Since when did you become the mod of this forum and get the authority to question peoples intentions? What do YOU know about sports? You are probably the fat kid who got picked last for sports when you were young. Don't fuck with me Levan. Not appropriate in this thread.

Actually a stupid mother fucker gets his false obituary news from tweets from a hasbeen musician, then when called on it being wrong, pretends that he's somehow 'winning' after the man finally passes on 24 hours later.

Respect indeed.

Surprised you didn't claim Joe was a friend and his cancer was the cop's fault.

You know he's dead, and that's all you know. Fucking retard. Oh, I'm sorry I had no idea you met him. I met the guy who plays Roscoe on Dukes of Hazzard at a car show when I was 8, I guess that makes me an expert on him? As soon as Jimmie Walker tweets that he's dead, I'll be the first one here to post it! Twice!

Gouhlish death groupie who gets his news from MC Hammer. Congrats on finally getting it right this time. You got any more breaking news for us?

Tell you what douchebag...why don't you share some of your feelings about Smokin' Joe beyond thinking that he was "great!"

Seriously...you got ANYTHING to say about him, except for the fact that you proudly broke news of his death, four times, on two separate boards?

I'll even let you consult Wikipedia first and give you time to come up with SOMETHING that refelcts your self-avowed boxing knowledge.

A true boxing legend. Yet here in Philly we prefer to have a statue of a fictional boxer (Rocky) instead of Smokin' Joe. No fucking respect.
I seem to remember Joe claiming on Howard Stern, something to the effect, that Sylvester Stallone brought him on the set of Rocky and that Stallone based the story loosely on Joe's life without crediting him. Anyone else remember this?

That would be totally incorrect.

You must be thinking of Chuck Wepner, "The Bayonne Bleeder."

Chuck was a big fat white tomato can from Jersey who got the shit beat out of him from everybody from George Foreman to Sonny Liston. He was famous for bleeding pretty much after the ref's instructions. He got a shot at Ali in a gimmicky fight when Ali needed a rest after the 3rd Frazier battle. He managed to make it to the 15th round with an out of shape Ali, and actually knocked him down.

Well, it was called a knockdown. What he really did was step on his foot and push him over, but still, some found it inspiring.

Sound familiar? It should because it's the plot of Rocky. Chuck spent 30 years (in and out of prison) being thrilled that he inspired a great movie. Then 5 or 10 years ago he decides to sue. I have no idea what happened at that point, but I'd guess Sylvester threw the broken down ex con a bone to make it go away.

But the Rocky story has about zero in common with the Joe Frazier story, so I doubt that was him on Stern claiming it was.

If you ever cared about boxing even casually you need to watch the documentary on the first fight between Joe and Ali.

No No and No again!
The Rocky film was loosely based on Chuck Wepner
Matter of fact, ESPN just aired a movie about the subject a week or two ago.

If Joe did indeed state that on Howard Stern years ago, Joe was lying on the air.

Relax, Nancy. Just stating that Joe had issues with Stallone concerning the making of Rocky. I've read before that it was based on wepner. I think Joe brought up the sides of beef thing in particular. Also mentioned here:

"...Frazier developed a habit that would later be immortalized by actor Sylvester Stallone in the boxing movie, Rocky: Frazier practiced his punches on the hanging sides of beef when he moved them into the refrigerator."
