When was the last time your favorite team won it all?
I've been thinking about how long it's been since my favorite teams won a championship. The last one was 19 years ago, which is pretty sad, but I guess that's what happens when you refuse to jump on bandwagons.
Chicago Bears - 1985
New York Mets - 1986
New York Rangers - 1994
So who here has it worse? I'm sure there are dedicated fans who've suffered longer.

Re: When was the last time your favorite team won it all?
Never.
My childhood soccer team hasn't even been in the first national league since 1993. They're currently playing in the third, which means the games don't even get TV coverage.
The local team I follow just made it back to the first league, but they'll never win a title either.
Randomly picking to be a fan of the Lakers, Yankees, or Real Madrid just seems wrong.

I mean...3 rings in 4 seasons ain't bad, but as a Cowboys fan you still gotta be disappointed that you didn't squeeze another Lombardi or two out of that 1990s team, no?Bludegeon wrote:Dallas Cowboys- 1996
Do you blame the ole Switzeroo on that one?
Re: When was the last time your favorite team won it all?
I blame the dysfunctional relationship between Jones and Jimmy Johnson.Crazy Levi wrote:I mean...3 rings in 4 seasons ain't bad, but as a Cowboys fan you still gotta be disappointed that you didn't squeeze another Lombardi or two out of that 1990s team, no?Bludegeon wrote:Dallas Cowboys- 1996

If those 2 could have found a way to get along for a few more years, I think Dallas had the chance to win at least 2 more SB's.
That team was loaded with players that knew had to win and knew how
to beat the player across from him.
Jones and Johnson had 2 of the biggest egos in the game and sooner or later one of them had to leave the party. Jones was going to win
and let's face it, Johnson was not going to coach the Cowboys for 10 years.
3 rings if 4 season is incredible. That led them to being the team of the 90's and rightfully so.
Since then the seasons have been a disaster and full of under achievements.
Looking for to 2013.

2 consecutive 8-8 seasons is average at best. Losing in week 17 when
the playoffs are on the line is unacceptable.
I'm hoping the veterans are going to take control of the locker room and I'm hoping Garrett is going to hold the players accountable for their actions.
Garrett benched Murray in the exhibition game vs Bengals for fumbling the ball.
I applauded that move from my living room. Does not matter who the player is, the ball needs to be taken care of.

1994 Niners
Just got out of high school a year earlier. If the Niners kept Ricky Watters they would have won back to back titles.
SF Giants 2012 though I am not a huge baseball fan but it was cool that the Bay Area finally won something after a long time.

Well, since he went to Syracuse I like him more than most fans. Plus I think Denny Green kneeling on the ball with about a minute left, on their own 35 with the highest scoring offense in NFL history is just as much to blame. I knew he was wrong before he did it, after he did it and still know it. It's how he got the nickname Deknee.johnk5150 wrote:when you hear the name Gary Anderson do you stroke out?NeverSurrender wrote:

It still stings about how close Dallas was to beating the Niners in 94', after being down 21 in the 1st qtr. Dallas would've destroyed the Chargers.
But, yeah, I agree with Machado.. I am pissed off that two egos got so out of control that it killed a great Dynasty that Dallas had going. Sure, it has been said that Jimmy was leaving regardless after that season, but, still, a lot easier to say that when you get fired. hahaha. or, quit, whatever..
Switz was a puppet, nothing more. Like a guy who was hired to just hit the auto pilot button and let the machine run.
It really still all lies on Jerry's (Al #2) shoulders. He kills this team. He needs to just be an owner and get a real GM in there. Get to getting drunk in his owner's box and watch his team.
Far as Romo goes?
I don't think Romo has what it takes to in the Bowl. He proved that last year in game 17 against Washington. He'd been making the same mistakes that he had made when he first came into the league, all season. It's like he never learned from them. I know, his OL has sucked, his running game supporting him sucked, Blah blah blah.
The only REAL thing that has sucked with Romo at the helm has been an under achieving, very average defense. Never get the plays needed to either close out a game, or get them back in a game. The turnover/sack percentage was disgusting.. This hurt Romo as well, cause there were games that he did play well in. Only to have the defense throw em away. Maybe shit will change this season..
It still goes back to Romo though. As is does with all QB's.. Now, does he suck? Well, did Dan Marino suck? No, he didn't. I just don't see Romo winning one. Romo is a talented QB, in the upper 10 among QB's IMO. You don't put up numbers like he has without having some skill.
But, numbers don't mean shit to me. Unless they are the number of Super Bowls Dallas can win.

Wow. A lot of fans suffer. The frustrating thing for me is that I live in NY and don't root for the Yankees or Giants. There are bandwagon big mouths everywhere who remind the rest of us of how frustrating it is to stick to our guns and root for losing teams.
