Do you watch the NFL as much as you did 5 or 10 years ago?

Post by NeverSurrender »

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell reports the NFL ratings are down 17 percent since 2015.

So I thought I would check in with sludgers.

So do you watch the NFL as much as you did 5 or 10 years ago?

This year I've only watched Vikings games. So I've watched four total games. I used to watch every night game, and both time slots on Sunday.

I used to watch 3 to 4 games a weekend. That was 4 years ago, for at least 15 to 20 years. Now i may watch 1 game every two weeks. Just have lost interest. The game has become so weak. The talent is weak too. Plus the whole kneeling bullshit thing.
I am a lifelong Eagles fan, and also I am sick of the same old crap every week. Has become boring.

More, new generation of QBs are fun to see
I'm tired of same old Patriots, Green Bay, , Steelers, Saints, Chargers generation

Raiders, Carolina, Nashville, Tampa, Houston, Seattle, fun to see

Glad running the ball is considered old offence

Hell no, that year when they changed the kickoff rules was the last time i watched full live games every week. Couldve been 2011!? The number of commercials had been a pain in the ass for a long time and as they pussified they rules i coulndt stand to watch nfl live on tv. Still get a few gmes through torrents, almost every week

Pretty much the same. I watch the Red Zone from 1:00-8:00. That's enough for me. Never watch Sunday Night Football, or Monday, or Thursday.

no...the past 25 years of redskins football has pretty much killed my give a fuck.

factor in what horrible people play the game (rapists, murderess, drug abusers...the list goes on and on) and i have just chosen to put my money elsewhere.

dont care so much about the kneeling for the anthem thing...but it sure as fuck aint helping their cause.

Yes.

If these guys want to scramble their brains for a big paycheck, fine by me. I like pro football, I like to wager on football, therefore I watch a lot of games.

The second and third line of your post are why I now watch less. I'm not a rara Merica guy at all. But the nfl players get away with so many violent crimes, why are they kneeling for injustice? Where is the justice for their victims? They fucked up on this one. When 80 percent of your customers are white, the 'honkies are racist' business strategiy probably isn't a good one.

Nope, too many rule changes making the game less violent and boring to watch. Find myself watching highlights more than actual games. The older I get the more difficult it is to support the NFL and the product.

Pretty much this.
One of the major turn offs for me is the announcers. There's only a couple of announcing teams I can listen to. Al & Chris on Sunday nights is good, but I can't watch a second of Monday night on ESPN. Those announcers are so bad.
What I can't stand are the pre post game shows. Each network has 8 guys in the studio, and they pretty much all say the same thing except in their own way. I don't watch a second of pre & post.
What gets me is the higher ups have taken all of the personality & individuality of the players out of the game. Players are not allowed to celebrate or react in any way without getting flagged.
Its so lame how they take the individuality out of the game, but the players were allowed to kneel & protest because the higher ups didn't have the guts to tell the players not to do it.
In the past if I missed a game I missed it, but these days I purposely do not watch.

I watch as much as I have in the last 15 years. Never miss my teams' games and I watch all Sunday. I can't stay up for the full games but I watch Monday and Thursday too. I don't watch any other sports at all so this is all I got.

The AP is reporting the NFL has lost 2.5 viewers since weel 1 alone. They're possibly facing a Nascar type decline.

I haven't missed a Redskins game in over a decade, and since I got Sunday Ticket a few years back I think I watch even more.

Albert Breer of The NFL Network and MMQB is reporting that not only are national NFL ratings down, so are local tv ratings.

25 of 31 teams (excluding the Chargers, because of the move) are drawing lower local numbers than in 2016. Nineteen have dropped 5 percent or more including brand name teams like the Cowboys (7 % drop) Patriots (8%) and Steelers (6%).
The Jets are down 37 percent!!

Great job, dipshits. Looks like targetting the offended college kids as new fans isn't helping your bottom line.

Only when the Raiders are on - like tonight.

Raiders 31, Chiefs 30.

Yeah.
