Another one of those movies where everybody knows the guy that is seeking revenge is a badass except for the guy who wronged him. Cool action but I think I'm just bored of this whole plot line.
For the murder of his wife right? And I do love Keanu, but this is terribly formulatic bullshit.
Mr. Mom 5/10 A neat blast from the 80s. Nothing special, but nothing great either. And just how in the holy living hell did Keaton get Batman after this???
5 points for Teri Garr who is the mom I always wanted to have.
Great movie! Really captivating story about a young jazz drummer vying to be the best. It's like "Top Gun" meets "The Natural" in the world of jazz drumming. Miles Teller had three weeks to pick up these skills and he's crazy on the kit. J.K. Simmons, who plays his class instructor, is like a mix between R. Lee Ermey in "Full Metal Jacket, Lou Gossett Jr. in "An Officer and a Gentleman" and Ben Kingsley in "Sexy Beast."

You'd think so, but no that's not the reason...woulda made more sense if it was

Miles is a drummer... been playing since 14 or so. not sure if you knew that or not.

Ah, I did not. That would certainly explain a lot. Dane DeHaan was originally sought for the part, but turned it down. I think this was a great role for Teller, who's proving himself to be quite a gifted actor.
For some reason for which I cannot fathom, CH is showing on the big screen in a very limited release. Definitely check it out if it shows up on your local theater.
The film is a masterpiece based on its complete and utter depravity which hasn't lost any of its impact through the years. And after seeing it on my tiny tv screen for such a long time, the big screen was a neat welcome.
Loved it. I can't say much b/c I don't want to give anything away, but this kept my attention the entire time. Long movie but I'd sit through it again for sure.
Annabelle - 4/10
Unoriginal and kind of boring. It had a few "jump" moments but wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be.

And the perfect way to kill a Saturday night.
I love you.

The Shortcut - low budget horror/thriller done pretty well. Plot jumps back and forth from the 40's and 50's to present time but it makes sense eventually. Well acted, unfortunately no nudity and the gore is tame. But if you are up at 2am, you could do worse. James Franco's little brother stars, as well as Dewey Cox's dad. 6/10
Finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy. 9/10. Another incredible Marvel movie. I didn't know the source material, which is why I wasn't in such a hurry to see it. Now I just want the sequel to hurry.

Rock of Ages - 3/10. That's by far the shittiest rock movie I've ever seen. I will now consider Rock Star a masterpiece. Those "musical" scenes . . . fucking hell, that shit leaves me speechless. I've never seen Glee, but I imagine it to look exactly like that.

I started that one last night, but I had been awake for two days and seeing junkies relax high as shit while you're a jittery mess trying to sober up is no fun at all. Had to stop about 15 minutes in.

i recorded rock of ages a while back on my dvr on dish network and have never watched this.according to your review maybe i should just delete this movie and free up about 2 hours of space on my dvr.

I would say SLD's rating is generous. Rock of Ages is painful. It operates under the premise that Bon Jovi's music is too hardcore, it needs watering down for Grandma.
If you want to have an aversion to rock 'n' roll for the rest of your life, watch it.

Saw it for the first time a couple months back when the Blu-ray first came out and loved it. I was expecting it to be sick just for the sake of being sick, but I was pleased to see that it wasn't. Still, a very messed up movie though.
As for Nekromantik... I've definitely never seen anything else like that. Just out of pure curiosity, I wanna see the sequel just to see WTF else they could do with it.

Sin Nombre (2009) - 9/10. Awesome film about a bunch of Hondurans crossing Mexico to get into the US for different reasons, against the backdrop of Mara Salvatrucha gang life. Beware: fucking animals™ may be humanized and illegal immigration turn into a complex issue.
Last night I watched Nekromantik 2. 9/10. I should also change my rating of the first one...
I haven't seen it in a while, and it still packs a punch. One scene that had me laughing (not in a bad way), was when her friends come over to watch the video of the seal, and she places the head on the table, so 'he' wouldn't be left out. So twisted, and great.
