He won't see a minute of jail time, and this will only help his campaign, and I don't think he actually gives a fuck about any of this, but I'm enjoying seeing the issue of top secret government info being mishandled go from a crime of treason punishable by death to not actually a big deal and it's okay to keep boxes of these documents in one of the cans at your golf resort.

It's not even goal-post moving at this point. The goal-post has been blown the fuck up.

True and if it pans out the way everybody figures it will (found guilty followed by a wrist-slap), the descendant relatives of anybody throughout the country's history who was ever severely punished for treason or espionage, should be given some kind of formal monetary reparations from the government.

If it's a jury trial the jurors will know that if they find him guilty they and their families will need to go into lifelong police protection (but will they ever feel safe, given that so many boys in blue are red of neck?). Same for the judge that delivers the sentence. If it's judge-only due to national security issues, even if they're not already a Republican appointee, are they prepared for the infamy of being the first judge in US history to jail an ex-president? It'll be career suicide just for starters.

If he's found guilty in court he'll get a fine, maybe a suspended sentence, that's all.

For me, it's just straight-up pessimism. The right thing is rarely what actually happens, and especially not in this modern age where every facet of our society is set up for the rich to skate and the poor to get fucked. The man gets away with everything and every transgression only strengthens his cult. Why would this take him down?
