Fucking awesome movie. I did cry at the montage of their life together and at a couple of other parts. But then again, all Pixar movies are the shit !!

I took my youngest to see this, and thought about the situation with my wife during the movie. Believe it or not, it opened my eyes to how short life is, and that the adventure with my wife was coming to an end, and I needed to create a new one for myself. Pretty deep from a Pixar Movie, huh?
Not at all. It's amazing the things that come to mind when you watch a movie. I'm not married, but I consider my life an adventure, as everyone's is. It's nice when we realize we need to take inventory of the things we do. I'm sorry that your adventure with your wife is ending. Begin a new one with an open mind and heart.

My Sister's Keeper-3/10

Book was excellent, but they screwed with the plot and the movie fell flat.

Best Tim Burton film IMO. Haven't watched Ed Wood stuff for years but after re-reading his bio (Nightmare of Ecstasy) recently I have enjoyed going back over his work. Last night I watched the Rhino Wood doco from 1994 Look Back in Angora, which was OK but a bit condescending towards his work.

Lucio Fulci's Murder Rock from 1984, about a killer knocking off young leotard-clad gals at a New York dance academy. Not as gory or enjoyable as some of Fulci's more well-known films (Zombie Flesh Eaters, The New York Ripper, The Beyond) but enjoyable enough for what it was, lots of cheesy 80s synth/disco music by Keith Emerson. The film was also released as Slashdance in some countries!

6.5/10

I like ED WOOD, but my huge complaint about it is...the movie ends, right when the ED WOOD story gets really good in my opinion...ED WOOD'S gradual descent into drunken delusional insanity is compelling as hell.
Very true...Wood's declining years, alcoholism and descent into porno paperback writing and skid row living is probably the most fascinating (and depressing) part of his life and would make a great film in its own right someday.

Regarding Ed Wood - as good as Johnny Depp is in the title roll Martin Landau steals the fucking show as Bela Lugosi. An uncanny performance.

Bill Murray's performance as BUNNY BRECKENRIDGE was pretty awesome too...especially considering that BILL MURRAY is umm...well let's say rumored...to be a little swishy in real life...the real life BUNNY would be an amazing story on all his own.
Yep. He kills as well.

I remember watching Murray on Letterman when Ed Wood came out, and when Dave asked about it and showed a clip Murray started saying how it was an "awful, terrible movie". I couldn't tell by the tone of his voice whether he was genuinely hating on the film, or just getting into the Ed Wood 'spirit'...

Public Enemies
8/10

If you didn't have a pretty good idea of the history behind the movie beforehand, I could see that it would be pretty boring.

I thought that was one of the best movies I've ever seen, just because it was so different.

I bought the book (and watched the movie) on the recommendation of other Sludgers). I can barely put the book down. It's so much better, and so much more insightful than the movie.

Gran Torino - 9/10

Awesome film. Clint was fantastic. It really felt like he was playing a washed-up, time's passed him by version of Dirty Harry or something. A rare example of where knowledge of an actor's past roles can add to character.

I liked the way racism was depicted too. While his character was a racist prick, there was an acknowledgment that it was at least a part a product of his era and life, rather than just a fact of all racists being all-round bad folk. I mean, lots are, but reality is never quite so straight forward and I think the film captures that by showing the racist to be an innately good man.

Great bits of comedy in there too, and I thought the kids playing the Hmong brother and sister were excellent, even though I've read other people criticising their performances.

'Let The Right One In' was the only flick I've seen this year that tops it (just).

Yeah the book clarifies her...ummm....scar...a shot in the film that puzzled me considerably.
Plus the book had a zombie vampire rape scene

For me

Taking of Pelham 123 7.5/10

I was expecting more from the ending but was kept entertained for the majority =of the movie.

Your turn
I actually liked this movie...but took a WHOLE Ativan cos my back was on fire and sitting is still an issue, and ended up falling asleep for about 15 minutes..my bad i guess, but i would give it a 7..

Just saw Public Enemies...and although it was 2.5 hours long, i wore my TENS UNIT and only took 1/2 an Ativan..GREAT MOVIE!!! Definitely give it a 9..although i now hear the facts of the movie were very inaccurate??? Time to go get a biography on this guy and read up on him...cos Depp played an amazing rendition! Definitely a thumbs up!!!
