X-Men 3.

Meh.

Pretty awesome effects but the acting and story are bad even for a comic book movie like this.

Kelsey Grammer as the Beast was just...a weird choice.

Most of the characters are stiff and boring.

Lots of great actors here (Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellan to name a few) but even they struggle with the weak dialogue.

Still...an alright movie to zone out on.

Blade Runner. 7/10. Pretty fucking overrated if you ask me. The scenery was great, but I found it to be really slow-paced, and not much action.

Was it the original, the director's cut, the extended director's cut, the 20th anniversary director's cut, the 25th anniversary director's cut, or the ultimate director's cut?

Director's Cut. I also just heard that Ridley Scott is gonna remake it, or do some kind of prequal or follow-up, in the near future. Apparently, there was some kind of announcement last week. I have to look into it more.

Anatomy Of A Murder - 10/10. Starring James Stewart, and Lee Remick.

James plays a lawyer, whose client kills a man after he finds out the man raped his wife.

Priest: 2/10

Bad acting. Terrible plot. Predictable. Boring.

But thankfully very short.

The Ward - 5/10. Boring jump-scary Carpenter horror with a tired plot twist. Amber Heard is hot in it.

Trailer Park Of Terror - 6/10. Kind of like a My Name Is Earl episode if Joy was undead. Fluctuates between embarrassingly campy and pretty cool. Nichole Hiltz is hot in it.

X-Men:First Class (3.3/5)

Once I got over the bastardization of the X-Men mythos again. (I still don't get why these hollywood writers don't just follow what is already written and has stood the test of time when it comes to adapting comic books to movies.) Anyway, I thought it was an enjoyable film for what it was. A hell of a lot better than X-Men 3 and the abortion that was Wolverine.

Watched a few minutes of Going the Distance last night. Was flipping through the channels and saw Charlie Day so I stopped. I hate romantic comedies and Justin Long.

The Hangover: 5/10

I don't watch comedies because they're never funny. With all the hype this one got, I gave it a chance. Although I smiled a few times, overall it was meh.

Hobo with a Shotgun - Campy, grotesque, poor dialogue, over-acting. The best "Grindhouse" movie by far.

Octopussy - 8

Just what a James Bond film should be. Corny, action packed, great one liners, absurd, and very entertaining.

Roger Moore is the best Bond by some margin.

Casino Jack (2010) with Kevin spacey, barry pepper and kelly preston
movie about a dc lobbyist and his scamming ways. Every movie with Jon lovits playing a small time gangster deserves at least a 6/10

The backgammon scene kicks ass. I own them all, but whenever I see this while flipping through stations, I always go back to watch it.

Okay, last time I checked in I gave a good review to Planet of the Apes, noting that outside of X-Men, it was my favorite movie of the year so far.
I've seen a few more since, so here goes:

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: 2/10 stars
Outside of the horrific Battle Los Angeles, this is easily the worst movie I've seen this year. I had a feeling by the opening credits that it was going to be a long night, which is never a good sign. I really don't know what it was, but it was a bit dull, and the monsters were lame. It also didn't help matters that a bunch of kids who were blabbing away and were causing trouble in the back of the theater culminating in a fight, during the final climax of the movie.
That was a distraction, but by that point the movie couldn't be saved.

John Carpenter's The Ward:7/10
Although its not as strong as some of John Carpenter's past films (Prince of Darkness, Assault on Precinct 13 - the original - not the remake horseshit), I thought the female cast was good and it had enough creepy moments to give it a passing grade.

Final Destination 5 3D: 6/10
It is what it is, a dead teenager movie. The 3D effects were okay, but you could spot the twist coming a mile away.

Riff Tracks presents: Jack the Giant Killer: 8/10
This was a live show from the Mystery Science Theater guys, riffing away on this 1960's flick. All I can say is "Seize the Bone!"
After seeing this I also went out and got a couple audio tracks they did.

Cocktail: 9/10
and
Karate Kid III: 9/10.

So far, X-Men remains my favorite movie this year, with Planet of the Apes second. Battle Los Angeles was the worst piece of shit this side of Skyline.

American Graffiti - 7

I remember watching this several years ago and loving it.

On repeated viewing its good but not as good as I remembered it.

Great soundtrack though

Ruthless People (1986) starring Danny Devito, Bett Midler, and Judge Reinhold... 9/10. One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Severe LOLs. Seems like the creator from "It's Always Sunny..." basically ripped off this movie, and Seinfeld.

I Saw the Devil 9/10

Korean revenge movie that is among the most brutal and vicious movies I have ever seen. The performances were amazing. I absolutely loved it.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes 8.5/10

Somehow they managed to pull it off. I had zero expectations before it came out, but when the reviews were so positive, I became optimistic. The storyline was so well-executed, and the allusions to a sequel were, dare I say, masterful. The last few minutes, including the credits, were flawless.

The first 15 minutes are terrible, but after that it becomes surprisingly watchable.
