I agree. I'd put the movie at about a 9. It's great. It's just a blast, and yes, the scene after the credits is cool. I'd say it hints at some redemption in the making.Fletch wrote:Did you stay til the very end, after the credits? If so what did you think of that scene?EddieVanHeineken wrote:Guardians of the Galaxy

We need more movies like this. A Star Wars/Raiders styled movie that is weird, funny, with great action and an awesome soundtrack. Wasn't a 10 because the villains lacked in development. Highly recommended

Guardians was excellent. Easily one of the best movies of the last 3 years or so.
Worth the price of admission.
It was a reminder of what movies used to be. Regarding the clip at the end , the older crowd started laughing and the young people looked puzzled.

McQ - 8/10.
John Wayne plays a police detective who goes rogue after his partner is killed and finds himself mixed up in some shady dealings.
One of John Wayne's last movies. It's not as good as Bullitt or Mr. Ricco, or the Tony Rome movies, but it proves once again that you don't fuck with the Duke.

Sabotage (2014): 6/10
I thought this would be a generic Arnie action flick, but it was a lot darker than I expected. And what happened to Olivia Williams? She looks used up.

If you noticed, when they first meet the collector, you can see that spoiler in that scene behind him.Mongo wrote:Guardians was excellent. Easily one of the best movies of the last 3 years or so.

What was also great about the movie was the soundtrack. There were some really cool tunes they picked that help set the vibe for the movie.
The first five minutes of the movie were emotional on par with the beginning of Up. From that point on though, it was a fun ride.
Marvel hit it out of the park this year with this movie and Winter Soldier. Cap 2 is almost like their Dark Knight, a great Film, not just a popcorn flick. Guardians is what an action adventure/space opera should be.
Saw Hercules today, 6/10. The Rock was good in it but the movie itself sucked.

Devil's Playground (2010) - 2/10. Worst zombie flick I can remember. It's bad even for Danny Dyer standards. MyAnna Buring doesn't even seem hot in it. Just terrible.
Credo (2008) - 3/10. Super lame attempt at psycho horror, I assume. It's basically a bunch of scared assholes (one of which is hot MyAnna Buring) walking around some house for an hour. There's even a pentagram on the cover, yet Satan was nowhere to be seen. Fuck this nonsense!
Shrooms (2007) - 3/10. Bunch of morons go to some Irish woods to trip on mushrooms. Then it turns into a regular shitty slasher and everybody forgot they're supposedly tripping or something. So, there's an hour of yelling and running before a stupid predictable "twist", the end. Yay!

What description? That movie is a timeless artistic horror masterpiece compared to everything I just watched. Brigitte Lahaie was a bit wasted, though.Facedown wrote:Calvaire - 3/10.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 10/10. Anything that wasn't just perfect about the film was dwarfed by the pure joy and delight I felt while watching it.

Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda (2014): 6/10
A proper Syfy movie and decent sequel. It pits our favorite shark/octopus hybrid against a pterodactyl/barracuda mix. Hilarity ensues. Word on the street is that the third installment will have Sharktopus facing off against Mermantula (half merman, half tarantula). That would rock.

Fucking stupid. It's like they saw no need for a story editor. Just let the film meander to it's all too predictable conclusion.

Girl Walks Into a Bar (2011) - 7/10. Weird episodic noir comedy by Sebastian Gutierrez. Carla Gugino is hot in it. And Emmanuelle Chriqui. And a whole bunch of others.
The Poker House (2008) - 5/10. Coming of age story of Lori Petty, with young Jennifer Lawrence and Chloë Grace Moretz, and not so young Selma Blair. Too TV-movie-ish to be believable, so the abuse scenes aren't very hot.

Guardians of the Galaxy: 8/10 Pretty funny (atleast in a movie theater) and overall pretty damn good considering how silly the characters are as opposed to the 'real' superheroes.
Zoe Saldana is worth my money alone. She can be blue, green, ... don't matter to me.

This is about right. If you put Avengers at @ 10, this clocks in at an 8. As good as, if not better than, Winter Soldier just to keep the geek reference point going.GroupiesInBoots wrote:Guardians of the Galaxy: 8/10 Pretty funny (atleast in a movie theater) and overall pretty damn good considering how silly the characters are as opposed to the 'real' superheroes.

God's Not Dead: 0/10
I had a mild appreciation for Heaven is Trill so I thought I'd give this one a chance too and then maybe a couple more Christian films down the line, I could be saved from eternal hellfire.
If you want to see what people hate about Christian nuts in the U.S., look no further. It starts out sort of promising. I honestly thought the Christian kid was going to have a sensible debate with the teacher throughout and give secular viewers food for thought on the subject of theism.
Every non-Christian in this movie is a straight up piece of shit. Also, it leaves a lot more questions than it answers. God refuses to cure cancer but he'll start your fucking car?
My biggest problem is the idea that without giving your soul to Jesus, you have no reason to be moral. What's the point of being moral if not for salvation? The funny thing about this is that it's the exact logic used by one JEFFREY DAHMER. Look up his prison interviews. He says the same shit: He ate motherfuckers because he didn't have God in his life.
Oh and what's with this atheist college professor who hates Christianity allowing a Christian kid to hijack his class every week? The movie begins with him saying "We're not going to talk about God." Then some bold Christian kid speaks up and it becomes "Okay, we're going to talk about God every week."
Dogshit. 90 minutes of pure dogshit.

midnight heat(1996 brian bosworth) 6/10
it wasn't the greatest but I liked this movie and brian Bosworth.
seems like only yesterday he was playin' for the sooners then went pro with the seahawks.
he was wearin' a seahawks hat in one scene and in one scene he said something along the lines of gettin' run over by bo jackson.
he went to a storage locker and the number just happened to be 333.
I've been plagued by this number for a while now.
weird.
