Yes, quite certain. The former was a well-crafted, well-acted, tense parable about grief and the latter was a big, noisy, stupid piece of shit.

Digging Up the Marrow - may be as overrated as Babadook for the past calendar years best horror. I've enjoyed Adam Green's Hatchet movies, and although he doesn't prove to be quite as big of a douche as a Tarratino or an Eli Roth in front of the camera as compared to as behind, this docu/found footage exploration is a fucking mess. Even starring the great Ray Wise, nowhere near as good as it should be. 4/10

Poltergeist (2015) Meh / 10

Probably would have been better if I didn't have the original to compare it to.

The Official Story (1985) 8/10- Argentinian film about the right wing military junta in charge for ten years from the mid 70s-early 80s. It's kind of slow, but builds nicely after about 40m. Recommended for girls on this board because of its plot and sensibility. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "feminist" film, but more of a female-centric film.

Children of a Lesser God (1986) 6/10- Academy Award winner about a teacher at a school for the deaf. William Hurt is the teacher and Marlee Matlin is the upstart student who he falls in love with. It's one of those movies where the plot is predictable and cliched but the acting and obvious sexual attraction between the two leads makes it watchable. Actually William Hurt is one of the handful of actors who make a bad film into a mediocrity, as he does here.

Night Moves (1975) 8/10- a modern film noir about a detective who travels to Miami to retrieve a spoiled sexy daughter tart to her drunken actress mother in LA. This is one of those movies which wasn't popular when it came out, but you catch it in the middle of the night and you finish it no matter what time you have to wake up in the morning. Gene Hackman plays the detective and a very young Melanie Griffith plays the the underage girl. This also is the movie where supposedly the insult "like watching paint dry" was coined, even though the subject, Eric Rohmer, made fantastic films.

Tomorrowland - 7.5/10. Excellent effects, good story, great humor. Really pretty magical and you feel like you really are in another world at times. Only drawback is that like most movies these days it was about 15-20 minutes too long...

I thought Marlee Matlin was very believable as the deaf student.

Sigh....guess I'll be the first.

Zombeavers.

I mean c'mon, it's a terrible movie but if you're going into it for a guilty pleasure, B Horror, hour and a half of ridiculousness....it's pretty goddamn funny. Kind of a "Tucker And Dale VS. Evil" kind of vibe on a smaller budget.

I know I'm easily amused but fuck it. I loved it.

Veronica Mars (2014) - ?/10. I remember thinking the show wasn't all bad, it had Ken Marino, after all. This movie put me to sleep ten minutes in, and that was in the morning right after nine hours of sleep. Bitch ain't hot enough to try again.

The Aviator 8/10.

Been meaning to see this for awhile and finally got to check it out on netflix. Leonardo DiCaprio was brilliant in it, really nailed the OCD thing of Howard Hughes. Some areas were spotty but the scene with him going up against the Senator was awesome. Overall, very entertaining.

Blue is the Warmest Color - N/A - I only watched about 40 or so minutes of the entire 3 hour movie. Mrs. Slammer wanted to watch the big lesbian sex scene, so we watched that, and then went and made our own sex scene.

Got video?

The last movie I watched was 21 Jump Street. It was OK, I was only half-watching. 6/10.

Why Don't You Play in Hell?

Sion Sono's ode to cinema. Hilarious, violent, occasionally tragic, and a really hot Japanese chick wielding a katana. Every second was a blast.

Conan the Destroyer - 6

I remember seeing this when I was kid thinking it was great. I figured it probably hasn't aged well and I was right. The fight scenes varied from ridiculous to entertaining enough. I guess after watching GOT, and more modern films, it is no surprise that the fight scenes in these movies are lacking. It was kind of boring as well, even with all the fighting. I recall the end monster being far more terrifying as well. Wilt Chamberlain was pretty convincing as a villain though. Probably spoiled my childhood memory watching this again.

Saw Spy today. I thought it was hilarious, and absolute piss take of the spy genre. Not sure the parents of some 12/13 year olds thought the same thing with all the language in it. There was a bit of tut-tutting and they rushed them out as soon as the credits started.
