Just wasn't what I thought it would be.
I should have waited for it to hit Red Box or Netflix.

KRAMPUS 8/10 I was suprised how dark and violent it actually is. Way more than I expected in 2015. It's more like an 80s movie where kids and adults can swear realistically without irony or apology.
The first time you see a gingerbread man, truly creepy.
Right near the end it goes into this place that reminds me of Toy Story 3, when they're all in the furnace and you're thinking 'how the fuck can they take it this far?'
The monsters are well done, great special effects, really chilly ending. I love the last scene.

-2 for the predictable bits and the cliche wiseass aunt. I love her but every time the camera lands on her you know she's gonna say something vulgar.
In the paper, seems a florist
Found in Lincoln Park, died of some anemia
No one raped her, poor Doloris,
Just detained her and drained her on the spot

Blue Sunshine (1978) - 4/10:
Saw this praised here and the story about balding acid freak zombie murderers sounded promising, but it's the boring kind of trash.

Elysium (2013) - 6/10:
Far cry from District 9 but still better than most modern Sci-Fi.

Barefoot (2014) - 6/10:
US remake of a rather obscure German film. Evan Rachel Wood and not Til Schweiger makes it better by default I guess.

Glen Campbell - I'll Be Me. Documentary on his struggle with Alzheimers. Well done so it's worth at least an 8. But since it made me cry in the end I give it a -2

It was on directv tv cinema first and then released to theaters and on demand the same day. Why go to a theater to see it when you can watch from your home for less. Doesn't seem like it is an event movie that demands to be seen in a theater.

Final installment centered around The West Memphis 3. Those kids got
railroaded from the jump. Inept police department, locals without an education were convinced Satan was involved and then the stepdad who could not account for many hours that day/night and was seen with the kids just prior to their disappearance.

Le passé / The Past (2013) - 8/10:
Brutal family drama about a French-Iranian relationship triangle in Paris. The cultural background actually doesn't serve as a cheap plot device, this movie is amazingly free of stereotypes. Except for the one about Iranian chicks being hot, as represented by Bérénice Bejo.

Turistas (2006) - 4/10:
Terrible horror thriller about a bunch of retarded tourists being hunted for organ trafficking in Brazil, which is obviously a lawless, undeveloped third-world jungle full of evil savages. Melissa George and Olivia Wilde are in it. I'd give them some organ traffic.

Vivre Sa Vie (1962) - 6/10:
Episodic Godard film with Anna Karina whoring it up for no real reason. I didn't really get the point. Pretty, though.

In the Heart of the Sea. 8\10. Great film not deserving of the bad reviews it's getting. Whatever.

Basically, the backstory of Moby Dick with the always grand Hemsworth playing the lead. Very gruesome whale slaughter scene, but no reason to sanitize the act. It was a bloody mess.

Also, movie shows the horror of being stranded on the ocean with no food, water or hope. Won't spoil it, but you can probably guess how this ends. Eat up, everybody!! 8)

Overall, good cast with good performances by all.

I've been really looking forward to this one. Whaling is so interesting to me. These motherfuckers got in ships for months at a time and hunted fucking whales! They had to get off their ships, get on tiny boats and harpoon and kill a fighting whale. That is beyond insane. And here I am working a customer service job, having the balls to complain about it.

Pretty good but the two times Costner tried to act like a tough guy were cringeworthy.

I hear what you are saying. A lot of people are giving this film loads of flack because of the subject matter, but for fuck's sake, whaling is part of our history. Not a good part, but a part nevertheless. The film does not in any way glamorize the act, just presents it as it was: dismal and horribly dangerous.

Young, High and Dead (2013) - 3/10:
British indy horror that looks like total shit. The soundtrack is annoying and barely anything happens. On the plus side, the characters aren't quite as clichéd as mainstream C-horror and Hannah Tointon is pretty hot.

Pacific Rim (2013) - 4/10:
I didn't exactly expect this not to suck, but the buried pre-teen geek in me hoped it would be reminiscent of the whole BattleTech/MechWarrior universe. Unfotunately, it's rather Power Rangers.

Carousel (1956) - 6/10:
Song-wise not really my type of musical, but there's some awesome group dance shit going on if you're into that, and Shirley Jones is just dreamy.

In the Loop(2009) if you like VEEP on HBO this movie is for you just hilarious political stuff between the US/UK trying to go/avoid war
James Gandolfini is in it as well as Anna Chlumsky playing a role very similar to her role in Veep 8/10

THE WOLFPACK.
An aimless, ugly, poorly "thought out" documentary about a group of seven children that were raised indoors with very little contact to the outside world.
It had potential, but... it was squandered.
The endless and repetitive attempts to make this weird kids seem even more weird than they actually are, make this movie frustrating beyond all hope.

There is NOTHING to see here. Move along. Move along.
