good stuff 8/10

The maze scorch trials - 8/10 - This goes way beyond the Maze. Good cast, story line and a some great graphics loaded with fast paced action that takes you places. I like where it's going. I'd watch it again.
Agreed.

The Big Short - 8. Very good film. Good acting, good pacing to the film.

The Heartbreak Kid **

Tripe.

Funniest thing in the movie was the one guy's Wicked Witch of the West phone ring for his overbearing wife.

Le tout nouveau testament / The Brand New Testament (2015) - 7/10:
Story about God who lives in Brussels and mistreats his family, so his daughter runs away and finds new apostles. Starts pretty original and funny, but is kind of spoiled by a lame, meaningless ending. A bit like Amélie in less gay and without the great soundtrack.

La petite mort (2009) - 5/10:
Hardcore splatter movie from some German guy I never heard of. Special effects by Olaf Ittenbach are disgusting as usual, but the whole torture setup is just vile even by my standards. It's pretty much exactly like Hostel but as a real gore movie, not mainstream horror.

Enemy (2013) - 7/10:
Pretentious symbolic puzzle movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, which probably makes slightly more sense than Donnie Darko. Mélanie Laurent has her tits out.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

A "classic" that lived on to its reputation 8.5/10 had no idea Forest Whitaker, Nicolas cage, Anthony Edward, Eric Stolzs were in it, take spicolli out and it would be even better

I've long contended that Spicoli was Sean Penn's greatest career achievement and he should have won the Oscar. Never has a character's personality been so 180 degrees opposite to the actor who portrayed him.

Rabid (1977) - 6/10:
Decided to fill all my Cronenberg gaps. Maybe I just didn't see enough Marilyn Chambers porn, but this disappointed me a little. Not bad, but also pretty bland.

Now You See Me (2013) - 5/10:
Pretty lame, but I'll watch anything with Mélanie Laurent. Even when she DOESN'T GET NAKED, apparently.

Gattaca (1997) - 7/10:
Good sci-fi entertainment with an overly obvious social justice "allegory". Nice to see Gore Vidal in a bit part.

The Revenant. 10/10. So much to say about this film, it warrants it's own thread, but here are a few things that I really enjoyed with no spoilers:

The cinematography - Holy Shit!! This is a beautiful BEAUTIFUL movie. The director puts you right there for every single scene. I found myself actually shivering during some moments.

The soundtrack - amazing music that gets you right in the gut. Just perfect.

The cast - everyone did remarkable in their roles. Wil Poulter was a real stand out, and Tom Hardy is always good. I could not understand him most of the time, but he still managed to shine. Great performances by all.

Leo, who is always good, but extraordinary in this. Even if he spent most of his screen time crawling through the snow in agonizing pain. He really excels in his relationship with his son, Hawk. Their time together is brief, but it makes it's impact.

The bear attack - won't go into too much detail, but it was mortifying, and beautifully executed. The bear is CGI, but you would never know by watching this scene. Gruesome stuff. *shudders*

Ultimately, if you are a fan of this type of film, then by all means go see it. And see it on the goddamn big screen. Anybody who watches this on their IPad should be killed. 8)

TWA Flight 800
9/10
Would have scored a 10 if all those investigators and politicians agreed to be interviewed for the film. They all declined. Must all be hiding something.
Excellent documentary. None of the witnesses were allowed to testify. Unreal. Fucking CIA, FBI and US Government covering up yet another tragic accident.

The Revenant - Great film, one of those that I can honestly recommend that needs to be seen on the big screen. The scenery, acting and blood and gore are outstanding. It's looong, but totally worth it. 9/10

Legion of the Dead (2001) - 5/10:
One of the first Olaf Ittenbach movies shot in English with native speakers. Can't really call them native-speaking actors because they all suck, but this is splatter gore stuff, so it really doesn't matter. It's supposed to be a comedy too, but the real humor is all accidental. Not bad.

Attack the Block (2011) - 7/10:
Sci-Fi/horror-comedy that's original through a somewhat realistic setting. Think Shawn of the Dead with flawed London ghetto kids fighting cops and aliens. Starring some dude from Star Wars, I guess.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) - 7/10:
Never thought I'd enjoy this, but somehow even I sided with the cute monkeys, including James Franco.

Desperado - 9/10

Robert Rodriguez's best film. Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek are amazing in this. Gotta be one of the top sex scenes in non-X rated history. The action sequences are bad-ass. The soundtrack fucking rules. Some early Danny Trejo.

I just wish Quentin Tarantino would stay behind the camera instead of thinking he has acting chops.

Attack of Life: The Bang Tango Movie 9/10 I was completely entertained and I'm not a fan. Only things really missing were more commentary from Joe, and any discussion on how much money they ever made off the first five years of their career high point.

Lifeguard (1976) - Sam Elliott plays Rick Carlson, a 32-year-old lifeguard on a Southern California beach who is prompted to question his goals in life when he receives an invitation to his 15-year high school reunion. At this reunion, he meets his high-school sweetheart, Cathy (played by Anne Archer), now the divorced mother of a young son. They resume their past relationship and Cathy encourages Rick to take a job as a Porsche salesman, offered to him by another high-school classmate. Meanwhile, Rick must deal with Wendy (played by Kathleen Quinlan), a lonely teenage girl who has developed a crush on him - that's from wiki.

Sam is at his hairiest, macho, suave role,....up there with Mijo. I'm giving this one a solid 7.5/10

Sicario - 9/10 - Realistic drama/thriller, no over the top BS. Good acting and atmosphere

Star Wars (2015) - 7/10 - enjoyable enough. Well crafted and entertaining nothing ground-breaking or truly original though

The Hateful Eight - 8/10 - it's no Pulp Fiction and can be a bit tedious at times but still worth seeing for the acting and dialogues. Kurt Russell was excellent.

Making a Murder (doc.) - 10/10 - Unreal, eye-opener, must see

Cobain (doc.) - 7.5/10 - good, but this one's probably more for the fans

Now back on topic for the thread:

Fat Pizza vs. Housos (I don't even know how to rate this movie) 50km from my house over in suburbs like Ipswitch, Logan, Brownsplains, and Inala, and this no longer is a fictitious movie but a documentary on life in Northern Australia. Want to know what it's really like to live in Australia with Bogans, Yobbos, Dole Bludgers, and Shazzas. This is the movie for you.
