Wind up Working in a Gas Station - Documentary about Dweezil Zappa who invested all his money into his tribute band believing that he would see a big inheritance when his mother died. Turns out the Zappa Family Trust is "beyond broke" as is Dweez.

Remember when, about 10 years ago, a phone conversation she was having with her dad was leaked? In it, Alec calls her a "little pig" or, something to that effect.

That chicken has come to roost, apparently.

I must not have been in the mood for Deathgasm. Annoyed the fuck out of me for 15 minutes before I turned it off.

No, it's as bad as they say. I think so anyway. I'd give it a 3 or 3.5. Different strokes for different folks though. Really disjointed, terrible CG, characters you had no interest in, and Leto never cracked his Joker properly. It's made a lot of money, so, hey, good for the studio, but creatively-speaking, it's another bomb for WB's DCU.

Out of 10!

So worse than Batman vs. Superman!

I have seen one good review by a local newspaper (the 24). Everything else is saying this is really bad.

What We Do in the Shadows - 7.

Pretty fun and entertaining film about vampires and their daily lives in Wellington New Zealand.

He's wrong.
It's not a great movie but its a fun enough big, dumb, summer superhero movie. 3 out of 10 if Batman V Superman is a 1.

Maps to the Stars (2014) - 7/10:
This isn't anything like a classic Cronenberg movie, but he still goes beyond the typical annoying "Hollywood commentary" type of shit when dealing with acting family dynamics. Julianne Moore and Mia Wasikowska are awesome, John Cusack and Twilight dude suck.

The Girl (2012) - 7/10:
Good political movie about illegal immigration and human trafficking. I think it's very important that we think about these issues while staring at the perfect hotness of Abbie Cornish.

Shine (1996) - 6/10:
Biopic about pianist David Helfgott. Well acted, but apparently largely fiction, it concentrates more on his mental illness than Rachmaninoff, unfortunately.

Purge (2012) - 7/10:
Brutal Finnish movie with a parallel story about a girl running from Estonian human trafficker pimps and an old woman coming to terms with her communist past under Russian occupation. Amanda Pilke is hot in it.

Cocktail is on right now. It has a 5% rating on rotten tomatoes. I think that and Roadhouse have to be the 2 worst movies that I'll always stop and watch.

Miles Ahead - loosely based on Miles Davis' lost years from 1976-1981. 10/10
London Has Fallen - 7/10
