Dont get the hate for this one saw on the big screen when it came out, still like it a lot to this day, Elizabeth Shue was hot AF, Cruise was on top of the world back then
Watch it again. It's bad. I mean fun bad, but still bad. Someone should have told Tom Cruise he can't dance.

Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe

I was a huge WWF fan back in the day. UW being one of my favorites. The doc portion covers everything. His rise & fall. The disparaging DVD released in '05 & the lawsuit against Vince. The leading up & 'comeback'' to the HOF. His death & the aftermath for his wife & kids. For me, it more than made up for the 'Self-destruction of the Ultimate Warrior' DVD. I'm glad WWE finally did right by him. It being priced at $7.50 @ Walmart was nice as well.

Suicide Squad 9/10 Margot Robbie kills it as Harley Quinn. Minus a point for Will Smith playing Will Smith, he puts as much thought and energy in his role as he does when he names a child. Otherwise a perfect summer flick.

Wild Strawberries (1957) - 7/10:
Not my favorite Bergman, it's so positive somehow. Ingrid Thulin and Bibi Andersson are hot in it.

Solace (2015) - 5/10:
Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell are two psychics, one a cop/detective or some shit, the other a serial killer. So far, so horrible. I stayed for Abbie Cornish. She's hot in it.

W.E. (2011) - 3/10:
I don't know what else I expected from a movie directed by Madonna, really, but I couldn't even finish this one for Abbie Cornish.

Being Flynn (2012) - 7/10:
Robert DeNiro is an alcoholic bum who's delusional about being a legendary writer. He meets his son who's working at a shelter and who eventually becomes a writer for real. Drama happens. There's also Julianne Moore and Olivia Thirlby and Lili Taylor, but nobody really gets naked.

Straight Outta Compton - 8/10

Thought it was well done. And, covered all that happened between everyone pretty well. It was cool to have Ice Cube's son play him. I forgot that Eazy-E was only 31 when he passed. Damn, that's young! It's too bad that he did die. I would have liked to see what NWA would have done their second time around.

Oh, and Paul Giamatti (sp?) was awesome as usual.

Star Wars Episode VII

Being the first new Star Wars movie I've seen since 'Return of the Jedi' in '83. Fuck the Prequels. I thought it was pretty good overall. Nice seeing Leia, Han, Chewy, & Luke again, albeit, briefly.

Equus (1977) 6/10- Adaptation of Peter Shaffer's play about a 17 year old boy who has a psychological obsession with horses. Sometimes Shaffer's plays produce great films like Amadeus and Royal Hunt of The Sun. But in this case, the great Sidney Lumet did a piss poor job. The best parts are Richard Burton's soliloquies about being a psychiatrist, especially his metaphor about being an ancient diviner of chicken guts who will be discovered as fraud as soon as he shows his doubt. The human condition is much too complicated for simple dissections based on barely 100 years of psychology.

I Saw the Devil (2010) - 6/10:
Good gore, but story-wise, I don't see what's so special about this typical Korean revenge flick.

Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) - 7/10:
Pretty confusing at first if you haven't read the Vonnegut novel, but still a good movie on its own.

Si j'étais toi / The Secret - 5/10:
David Duchovny's wife Lily Taylor has an accident and turns up in her daughter Olivia Thirlby's body for some reason. They have to figure out how to balance marriage life and the teen daughter's school life somehow. Hilarity ensues. Only that it's a serious drama. And they don't even bang, I think.

Sunlight Jr. (2013) - 7/10:
Indy flick about a couple of losers, she a gas station clerk, he uneducated and in a wheelchair, trying to have a baby and basically just navigating their shitty everyday life. Sounds super lame, but Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon make it work. She's hot in it.

Suicide Squad- 1.5/10 -Even worse than I heard it was, by the last half hour I was heading to the tavern. A notch above Batman and Robin, and hands down the worst Joker in film history. Harley Quinn was overrated as Hell, heard She was the best part, Her and Leto tried way too fucking hard.

Captain Fantastic

9/10

Great flick about a family living away from civilization in the Washington wilderness having to come back to the world they left after a loss. With Viggo Mortensen and Frank Langella. I love seeing movies where I haven't seen a trailer or read about it and just go see it. Saw this listed at the local theater and me and the wife just decided to see it.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

9/10

Another movie we saw without seeing a trailer or knowing what it was about. A kid in the foster care system is on his last legs with finding a family to take care of him. After a loss he ends up on the run through the Kiwi wilderness (kind of the opposite of Captain Fantastic plotwise). This movie was very funny and was directed by the guy directing the next Thor movie Taika Waititi.

Sausage Party

7/10

I was hoping this was going to be funnier. It was okay but I was bored halfway through it.

Pete's Dragon

8/10

Decent kid's flick. Had a melancholy feel to it. My son liked it a lot.

"Batman Forever" (1995) - 2.5/5 - Val Kilmer as Batman, Nicole kidman as super hot Dr. Chase Meridian, goofball Dr. Seuss character Jim Carrey as a completely over the top Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones as a cartoonish Two Face, and I was surprised to see a blazingly hot Drew Barrymore as Sugar to Debi Mazar's Spice. Movie was a mix of the style of the first two Michael Keaton/Tim Burton films transitioning to a 90's version of the 60's TV show. It wasn't terrible, but I won't watch it again. In one scene, after Riddler and Two Face destroy the Batcave and the Batmobile, Batman is getting suited up in a new prototype suit and they do a close-up of the new chest logo, then the new glove, then the mask, then... his... ass??? With a g-string???

"Eye In The Sky" (2016) - 5/5 - Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) plays an American drone pilot on a joint US/UK mission to capture three of the top 6 most wanted terrorists in the world. He, his mission commander (played by Helen Mirren), and her superior who represents the military within the UK government (played by Alan Rickman, in his final role) are face with the moral dilemma and the sad truth of war: good people must do bad things to prevent bad people from doing worse things. This movie only saw a US release, and it was only in theatres for a few weeks this past March. It made a measly $19MM. It's a fantastic film, that illustrates the horrible truth of modern warfare. A must see for every global citizen.
