Iron Man 2 - utterly forgettable

Like most sequels, the first problem is that nothing is shocking to the viewer so the characters have no impact. Now they're just annoying.

The action sequences were alright, but that stuff doesn't interest me. If that's why you watch movies - go for it.

Mickey Rourke's role was completely wasted.

How many god damn well-attended social functions are there? It's like the script was "Ok, we'll have Iron Man crash a party. 5 or 6 times."

And Don Cheadle as War Machine was really gay. That's the best way I can put it.

Somehow Iron Man is not as cool as I remember him being when I was a comic book guzzling 6 year old.

How the fuck, with the combination of Spielberg, Lucas and Ford, did not one of them realize this was dogshit.
Are you serious?

Everything Lucas has touched in the last 20+ years has been shit.

Iron Man 2 - 6/10
Some of the action sequences were very cool, and some other parts of the movie got into a little bit of the Batman and Robin type cheesiness. If you are gonna do drunk Tony, do it right, not do it funny.

I remember reading Toy Fare for YEARS and they had a live action comic strip called "Twisted Mego Theatre" (what eventually evolved into Robot Chicken more or less) and the longest running gag was that Iron Man was always drunk. Seeing that on the big screen was pretty funny to me. My favorite part of the movie.

I liked it a lot. I liked how Travolta's character balances the Religious bullshit Jackson's character portrays.

I really dug that "Falling and Flying" song. Pretty solid movie; nothing groundbreaking, of course.

Kick Ass - 8/10 - Awesome, Hit Girl is the best kid role since Natalie Portman as Mathilda.

2012 - 4/10 - Fucking disaster, slightly entertaining enough to finish but not really enjoy.

Sherlock Holmes - 7/10 - Decent, might need another view just to be sure.

Daybreakers - 6/10 - Liked and hated a lot of things about this flick, the first 30 minutes was pretty good but lost steam once he reached the Tree.

REC 2 - 10/10

A worthy followup to the greatness that is REC. This time, it involves SWAT dudes that kick Zombie assess. Also, what I like about this movie is that it is flat out terrifying!

Inglorious Basterds. I'm not really sure what I saw.

Is it possible to love and loathe a movie at the same time?

It is a great movie. Christopher Waltz is fuckin' amazing while Brad Pitt sucked with that accent. The French chick, Melanie whoever, is fucking hot.

I've been watching so many movies as of late....gotta love Netflix.

A Face in the Crowd (1957)-Fantastic movie about fame and it's effect. One of the best movies I've seen. Definitely check it out. 10/10

Changeling (2008)-This movie grabbed me from the beginning and kept me interested. It was almost 2 1/2 hours long, but it never dragged. 8/10

Platinum Blonde (1931)-Screwball comedy about a newspaper reporter who marries a girl from high society. Lots of witty banter throughout the film. 8/10

Irréversible (French, 2002) 7 out of 10

Without giving away too much...it's a brutal revenge film. The sex club, fire extinguisher scene was fucking ultra vicious and realistic. Totally reminded me of that Russian snuff video that was floating around. Totally disturbing.

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, "Amélie" - 7/10 - Audrey Tautou's beauty and facial expressions could sell any script and I'm quickly becoming a fan of Jean-Pierre Jeunet directing, the way he frames a film is perfect.

A while back there was a thread about scary non-horror movies. I took notes of several and have downloaded a bunch one at a time.

This time it was Gummo.
Wow.
It's a mix of re-enacted scenes and what looks like real home footage from the late 80s, just a small town in Ohio.

At first you think it's the most white trash people you've ever laid eyes on, but by the end I realized it's not unlike my own town, or many places I've seen. It's just poor, not-very-well educated white people trying to live their lives, and they're all fucking crazy in some way, but that crazy makes them all beautiful in it's own way.

I swear I know everyone in that movie, the fat chick who will give it up for anyone, the loner who wanders through town looking for anything, the chain smoking women who gossip till the sun goes down, the cross-dressing boy, the thirteen year old who likes being molested, the kids who kill cats and break into houses just to have something to do. It's strange, it's disturbing, and it's so damn real.

Then everyone gets killed by a tornado. That's not a spoiler, it's told at the begining, which makes it even weirder to know that you're watching a piece of America, real America, right before it was all swept away.

Fucking TEN.

Found in Lincoln Park, died of some anemia
No one raped her, poor Doloris,
Just detained her and drained her on the spot

Yes, I thought the whole movie was misleading...who would have thought that a movie about a bomb disposal unit in Iraq would have had so high an emphasis on disposing of bombs? I thought there was going to be more dancing, gay sex, perhaps a talking bird to add some humor. Massive disappointment.
