Wanted to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (luv me some Gary Oldman) but it wasn't at a theater near me. Saw War Horse instead, I give it a 9/10 great performances even by a duck.

yea I've been jonsing hard for this. It will finally be released "everywhere" this Friday. It was like they did a fake release date on Dec. 9, but it was only for select cities. I also saw the HBO making-of special, and it got me even more excited for it.

The Thin Red Line. (1999) starring Sean Penn and Nick Nolte. 8.5/10. Great cast/characters and very realistic war scenes. The ending dragged on a little bit, but it was still very well done. I feel like lots of movies kind of went to shit after 1999 and got a little too gimmicky.

I hit the movies hard this past week.

War Horse - 6/10 - Too long and stupid hollywood ending
Iron Lady - 4/10 - Meryl Streep was great but movie was disjointed
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - 8/10 - Sad but a good movie. Flows well
Adventures Of Tin Tin - 6/10 - Looked awesome, but really just kept going on and on.
Mission Impossible - 8/10 - Hated the first one and this was the first I have seen since. Great stunts and action. Story was actually there, just thin.

also got Apollo 18 off redbox. 3/10 - Good idea poor execution. the aliens were just plain stupid.

Same reaction here. Saw it when it first came out and liked it. Saw it again several years later and LOVED it.

ok this is pretty gay, but I watched Red Riding Hood last night (2011). 5/10. I knew it was gonna suck but I have to see anything with "wolves" or "werewolves" in it. It at least had Gary Oldman in it. This is seriously a Mystery Science Theatre movie. It was actually pretty good up until the end where it goes full-on 'Twilight'. The "werewolf" shows up again in the last scene and they are playing this gay romantic music and it's not even scary anymore  It's almost like an implied beastiality scene. Also, "Peter" seemed to have perfect hair for living in a 19th century village. I think they should have called this movie "Red Riding Hoe".

I'm sure some liberties are taken but I tend to like "true story" movies, especially crime or war stuff.

Cowboys and Aliens - 2/10. What a complete piece of crap. Nothing can describe how stupid this movie is. I gave it a 2 because the lead woman is super hot. The only thing that kept me interested and her storyline might have been the dumbest.

The Devil Inside: 5/10

Just from the previews, this film had the potential of being something totally creepy and frightening. I've never heard that type of reaction from a crowd as I did for this one. I had some serious hope for it.

Boy was I let down...

Up until the end, this was pretty good. Not nearly as scary as I thought it would've been... but good nonetheless. Then came the ending. Totally killed every bit of momentum this film had going for it. I'm talking Blair Witch type bad. Nothing was resolved, and it was a big middle finger from the filmmakers that pretty much sums up that they totally didn't come with a third act for the movie. Total laziness and one of the few times that I've left a movie theater feeling cheated. Gave it a 5 since it didn't even feel like a complete movie.

Mission Impossible; story wise 2/10...action scenes 10/10. It's worth seeing it just for the scene of Cruise walking way high up the outside of a building. Fucking crazy.

Same here. They could've easily added about 10-15 more minutes to it and at least gave it some sort of plausible ending. The thing was barely an hour and a half! They made sure to let people know to check out the website for more info on the "case" though!

It's not as good as I and II but it's better than 2 out of 10. Deserved to go straight to video but if you like I and II you will find III entertaining. If I and II get a 7 then III gets a 5, maybe 5.5

Hurtlocker(finally after a long delay)
9/10

The movie won awards for a legit reason.
Among the best "war time/military" movies of all time.

Most predictable war movie I've ever seen.

The whole movie is "Gee, I wonder which character is going to....."

Very let down by that movie.

The consistent complaint I was told about this movie was the ending.
IMO, the ending was just fine. That guy lived and breathed his job and being at home was not as appealing as putting his suit on and playing with IED's.

Rented Dont be Afraid of the Dark with Katie Holmes on Directv.......it was good in a way but kinda corny with all the little devil spawn running around.
A little boring at times.

Watched Breakdown last night. With Kurt Russell and KAthleen Quinlan.

AWESOME!

Kurt used to be so hot..

Also watched Burlesque with Christina Aquilara and Cher.....GREAT soundtrack and a very sexy movie. Typical storyline of a girl moving to LA to become a dancer/singer.
Eric Dane and Xtrina's roommate were a very good addition to the movie I must say...shit...I was horny throughout.
Id recommend this...even for the guys...lots of half naked chicks prancing around on stage.....

Breakdown is actually a pretty under rated movie.

As for the other film, as I've said before, they should have called it: Don't be afraid of the Suck, because it sucked. The house was cool, but that was about it. Really lame monsters that were punt-able.

...but yeah, Breakdown is a good one.

The original tele-pic version is a fucking classic. Shame they fucked it up.

Bunraku. Just caught this on Netflix. Suprisingly good indy/forign film, and it's got a rather interesting cast. Josh Hartlet, Ron Pearlman, Woody Harrelson, Demi Moore, and Gackt(?). Kinda of an art-deco/modernized/psudo-spinoff of some Japanese myth. Definately off kilter from what hollywood's doing, but an entertaining watch.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and John Hurt. I won't give any spoilers, but without understanding what even happened in the movie I'd still give it an 8.5 or 9. It is a very well done mystery/spy movie, and it does a great job of keeping you in the dark. This movie is probably too smart for most Americans. I definitely want to see it again though. You basically have to follow all the different character names and their actions and if you forget one thing they say in relation to everything you are fucked.

I made the annual trip to the movies with my wife and saw the latest Mission Impossible.

I have no idea how them made one of these films let alone four. Worst dialogue I've heard in a movie in years.

Can we have a CIA movie without a rogue agent anymore? I would seriously watch a movie about two cops that play by the rules over these action movies coming out today. The chick in the movie had a great body. So there was that.
