Mojo wrote:It's such an odd thing being an American under Trump. I WANT him to do well. If he fails, we all fail. But his brand is only supported by such a small minority that it's like he's not even the President of the whole US. He's just the leader of a group of bankers, who unfortunately, make the rules for the rest of us. That whole #notmypresident is stupid, but I understand it. He doesn't represent me or my beliefs and I don't beleive he or even one person in his party has the interest of the US at heart. So when I see shit like what I posted above, even though it's truly horrible, I hardly even feel a part of it. It's a weird level of schadenfreude. Because he's not one of us, it's easy and partially fun to watch him fail. But he IS one of us, so it's equally maddening. It's so weird and I don't explain it well, but what a weird fucking thing.
I could only have, if at all, rooted for him as a bad man doing some good things. I would applaud what was done and the character of the man *only* as it pertained to those good things. But that would have been at the very start of his term. After a few months of this constant petty, divisive behavior and lack of accomplishment, which was *consistent*, I think at that point he lost all right to the benefit of the doubt.

And he's not one of us. Well, I definitely don't see parallels to me or to anyone *I* know anyway. If you do, that's your right, I just don't entirely know what you mean by that. I also think it's a misnomer that if he fails, we all fail. There are a lot of positive things people can do to help the US and the world at the ground level that he has no ability to stop from coming to fruition.

But to address your overall point, I want someone to do good things, I just don't want it to be him now. He's not the only one capable of accomplishing that. Let it be someone else that does well on our behalves and is given the praise. He had his chances to do that, all the way up to a year, and he failed.

I mean that he’s one of us in that he’s the President whether I like it or not. His actions reflect on me by virtue of my being an American, even though I personally find him deplorable in every way.
Personally, I want Trump, the man, to fail on every level he can, including breathing. But Trump the President has the reins of my country and seeing him fail comes with the further shitting on of the reputation of my country. So it’s a weird double edged sword.

Okay, now I get it. It's a very difficult position to be in on a philosophical level that I'm sure many Americans share.

I still say get someone else in that office and let that person do the job he was supposed to do. I have no need to root for him when I know there's an alternative that's possible. For Pete's sake, he hosted a television show which revolved around him firing people for incompetence, which he did many times. It's time for his own poor, and more importantly, destructive job performance to be put in check permanently.

It ends a year where Donald Trump spent one out of every four days of his presidency on the golf course, the site Trump Golf Count noted.

That has put Trump on top of the list for most golfing trips among modern presidents and drawn quite a bit of controversy. While it is not out of the norm for presidents to take golf trips, Trump spent years criticizing Barack Obama for his golf trips and said during his presidential campaign that he would not be going golfing at all, instead staying in the White House to work. After his first year, Trump has gone to the golf course more than three times as much as Obama did.
And not one of his diehard supporters and fellow Republicans seem to have any problem with it....

Its just when their tax dollars may go to helping a single mother in the projects or furnishing poor kids' lunches at school that they are appalled at government waste of their tax money..

Shocker!! Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. is not ran by Cheeto or Pence! And I might have missed some Ruskie names.

No joke, Trump just tweeted this. Jesus H., will someone please invoke the 25th amendment already?

"North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the 'Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.' Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

Wow, the hits just keep on coming today. You would think this was a joke, right? But no. Sadly, no.

Still, this might actually be great for the Golden Globes, lol. It now gives presenters something additional to joke about all night. Talk about an easy layup!

The Dishonest Media Awards is such feckless, sniveling bullshit. Any Trump supporter who can dare call someone else a “snowflake” is about as self-aware as Nazi calling someone an antisemite. What a fucking joke this country has become.

Given the major news dump in the last or two, I'm thinking we're in for a major bombshell from the Mueller camp. This seems to be a hallmark of Trump's usual attempts at distraction. But hasn't he learned after multiple failed attempts that this technique only works with toddlers? The grownups in Mueller's office and the reputable media outlets are not going to lose their focus.

Seriously, though, can we not have Trump and Kim escalate us into a nuclear war? I don't want to die from radiation poisoning, and (less importantly) I don't want to see next month's Pyeongchang Winter Olympics cancelled. Thanks!

North Korea is now engaging with the South Koreans for the first time in 2 years.

http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/03/asia/nort ... index.html

From the article:

Seoul (CNN)North Korea and South Korea established contact on a hotline that's been dormant for almost two years Wednesday, a major diplomatic breakthrough following a year of escalating hostility and a move that could pave the way for future talks.

Relations between North and South Korea have warmed in recent days. During an unusually conciliatory New Year's speech, the North Korean leader extended a rare olive branch to the South, suggesting discussions about sending a North Korean team to the Winter Olympics should start "as soon as possible."

Wit due respect the era of "strategic patience" failed miserably. The nuclear program was well underway before Trump took office and North Korea had halted all diplomatic talks during the Obama regime.

New Trump book: Bannon’s ‘treasonous’ claim, Ivanka’s presidential ambitions and Melania’s first-lady concerns
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the ... 160ad115d7

Trump didn't know who John Boehner was

Key excerpt: “You need a son of a b---h as your chief of staff. And you need a son of a b---h who knows Washington,” Ailes told Trump not long after the election. “You’ll want to be your own son of a b---h, but you don’t know Washington.” Ailes had a suggestion: “Speaker Boehner.” (John Boehner had been the speaker of the House until he was forced out in a tea party putsch in 2015.) “Who’s that?” Trump asked.

Trump eats McDonald's because he thinks the food is safe

Key excerpt: He had a longtime fear of being poisoned, one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s — nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely pre-made.
Trump had little or no interest in repealing Obamacare

Key excerpt: An overweight seventy-year-old man with various physical phobias (for instance, he lied about his height to keep from having a body mass index that would label him as obese), he personally found health care and medical treatments of all kinds a distasteful subject. The details of the contested legislation were, to him, particularly boring; his attention would begin wandering from the first words of a policy discussion. . . . Prior to his presidency, he had likely never had a meaningful discussion in his life about health insurance.
Ivanka Trump has presidential ambitions of her own

Key excerpt: Jared [Kushner] and Ivanka had made an earnest deal between themselves: If some time in the future the time came, she’d be the one to run for president (or the first one of them to take the shot). The first woman president, Ivanka entertained, would not be Hillary Clinton, it would be Ivanka Trump.
