vlad is a family joke. Czech and Silesian Polish (via Texas, go figure) from husband. When we set up our first family e-mail, so the kid could play Everquest or whatever it was, we needed a name. Previously, my husband, who has one of those very uni-sex names, but looked just like Vlad Tepes (with a bit a young Tesla thrown in) and so nick-named ...well, "Lesley the Impaler" just wasn't cutting it, so we went with vlad. Got in the habit of using it, ta da!

As for the biblical stuff, confirmation is Catholic, wedding Anglican (Catholic without the guilt). Used to seeing obscure biblical names, Missouri and Arkansas, especially from the Protestant side of the family.
