As this cooze demonstrates, a lot of people don't have substantive criticisms of the hiring and firing of Tillerson and only comment on it vis-a-vis how The President acts. In other words, Tillerson's foreign policy views or actions aren't important, what's only important is that Trump didn't fire him to his face. The focus is on superficial horse shit rather than policy.

Tillerson wasn't right for the job because he didn't have any diplomacy skills and like Trump, had a paltry knowledge of foreign policy that didn't stem from his business experience. And also like Trump, he didn't seem interested in learning.

The good thing about Tillerson is that he wasn't an ideological hawk and fought to keep successful diplomatic agreements in place that came from the Obama administration, like the Iran Deal. He also wasn't a Russia hawk or a neocon. So even though Tillerson wasn't very good at his job, he was still better than the hawkish nut who is taking his place, Mike Pompeo. The Pompeo appointment also means we get a war criminal as head of the CIA, Gina Haspel, who oversaw CIA black sites and the worldwide torture regime our government has set up over the past 17 years. She should be in jail.

It's terrible news and terrible for this country. Even worse is that noted psychopath John Bolton is in the news again rumored to replace McMaster as National Security Advisor. This position doesn't have to be confirmed by the Senate, unlike cabinet positions which Bolton could never get.
