I can understand a lot of that cause and effect you mention, but I also see where he's obtained a lot of the things he's desired for his life. So why he is still a miserable, angry SOB? There were clearly ways he could have risen above his problematic childhood issues as so many have.

Hey, I'm someone that probably can get hurt somewhat easily at times, but I don't go around stomping on the world like I'm Godzilla.

He's never gotten the respect from the NYC elites he craved. He's not getting respect or "love" from everyone now. He'll never connect that to his own behavior, so he sees everyone else as the problem.

I do think he's fucked up, he wasn't sent to military school because he dreamed of a career in the armed forces. At the same time, when his casino (one of them, he was in the middle of defaulting on another already*) was in big trouble financially, his dad came in, bought millions in poker chips but never gambled with them, making it a loan. The New Jersey gambling commission busted him for it. So Dad and or Mom were horrible parents, but they still bailed him out when he fucked up.

*That's the kind of thing that gets me when people talk about what a great business man he is. The guy couldn't make money in fucking casinos!
