Favorite Current Comedians

Postby BDG135 » Fri Oct 20, 2017 12:58 pm

What are some of your favorite current comedians? I was into Bill Burr recently but his latest special didn't do much for me. What are some people still performing that you're into?

Yes ^ Norm is still one of the best there is.

Louis CK is funny.

I'm supposed to be going to see Jeff Garlin tomorrow night. I love him on Curb.

I'm also a huge fan of the old timers. I've been watching tons of old Don Rickles videos on YouTube lately and he's still one of the best. Those old Roasts were great. It didn't matter if he had 2 minutes or ten minutes, he killed every time.

Him for sure! Also really like Hannibal Buress, Kyle Kinane, Jerrod Carmichael, Myq Kaplan, and as always, the great Stewart Lee.

For just strictly stand up I’d say Louis C.K. and Dave Chappelle. I wish Dave would get out a little bit more.

And for comedians in a series TV or a movie setting I’d say Larry David.

WHO? This is what's wrong with different tastes and styles of comedy. What kind of a fucking name is Myq anyway? Fuck all these people. Stand up comedy is dead outside of Louis, Burr, and Norm. Chappelle is overrated.

I’d add Dave Chappell in place of chris rock on that list above.
Ricky.s “out of England 2” is a great hour. Looking forward to his new SiriusXM show.
But I’d say all in all Jim Jefferies is my favorite nearly new comedian. Stand up is always good nad his Comedy Central show has been outstanding.

Went to see Steve Martin and Martin Short this year and the old fellas still got it too.

Tim Minchin, Bill Burr (loving how he gets more curmudgeonly every time I see him), Jim Jeffries, Louis CK (his latest special and all the "I'm gay but afraid to just admit it" stuff was weird), John Mulaney (hated him at first, came to really enjoy his stuff), and I even enjoyed Joe Rogan's latest special.

I absolutely loved Kinison when I was younger. I watched one of his specials recently, and holy shit, it does not hold up well.

Agree with Sam Kingston not holdin up decades latter.

About five years ago i worked with a fella that was around 20yrs old. Good fella, but had never heard of George Carlin or Richard Pryor. Thought Dan Cook was as good as gets. I worry for the youth of America some days.

Just got back from seeing Jeff Garlin at Caroline's. I'm a little drunk but he was really good. Richard Kind showed up and that made for a funny couple of unexpected minutes. And Ira Glass was there too.

There were 3 opening comedians, two chicks who were terrible but I was laughing my ass off because Jeff was stranding like five feet away from me during their sets and HE was laughing, and he has the funniest laugh in the world so I was just laughing at him.

Then some guy who was actually really funny, I think his last name was something like Lakings and he's going to be on Kimmel soon. He was good.

Jeff didn't really have material, which he admitted to several times, and he just told stories and got into off the cuff moments with the crowd but he was really good.

After Robin Williams passed I’ve started to go see more comedians than in the past.
I think he deserved to be up there with George and Richard.
Only bitch I usually have about spending good money on a comedians are the headliners are only a bit over an hour.

Bit jealous of you staircase, Id like to see Jeff Garlin. comedians that take every might as a new adventure are always fun.

I like most of the ones mentioned, but probably my two favorites are Patton Oswalt and Jim Gaffigan. Also I'm surprised no one's mentioned Daniel Tosh.

I saw Garlin do a pop-in. I'd agree with TheInfiniteStaircase's assessment. Although he looked and was dressed like crap and was berating a guy in shorts sitting in front for not dressing up when going to a comedy show. That took up half his set.

Check this out if you'd like to see the late Patrice O'Neal interact with Mr. Garlin. https://youtu.be/BDZjhrHAnSs
