It seems like Gen X has been a prime target for pop culture memorabilia for decades now. I think a lot of these are cool and the scope is just wild - from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the Grateful Dead - but I dont see the point. It's not like they're replicas of vintage figures and I don't see much investment potential. Who buys these things?
The same nerds, sorry, individuals who bought Star Wars dolls, I mean action figures. There was no investment potential back then but they still practically jumped off the shelves into people's hands.
Years ago I stayed at a guy's house (friend of a friend) who was aged late 30s. One room had shelf after shelf of Simpsons dolls, all still in their packaging.
My cousin is literally a 40 year old virgin, still lives at home, wall to wall bookcases and shelves in his room filled with "pop culture memorabilia" (unopened action figures).........

I have some Batman action figures on my bookshelf. I couldn’t care less about resale. They look cool and I like them, so I bought them. Why does there need to be any other reason?

Also it's Thundercats FFS! A cartoon designed solely to sell toys to pre-high school boys. (See also: KI$$). Or rather, the toy companies created products them created cartoons around them.
Collecting Thundercats toys is fine when you're 10. But not when you're 40.

When you're about to bring a lady into your bedroom you want to make sure the big guns are ready. Like this vintage GI Joe playset, it gets them all hot and lusty. Next thing you know they're using their Kung Fu grip in the best way possible and it's one new adventure and mission after the next.

My sediments exactly. Action figures aren't my thing, but I do own 50+ watches, thousands of books and CDs and around 100 pool balls. I've noticed music stores carrying funko pops, action figures, tarot cards bongs, books, and anything else they need to keep the doors open and I think it's fucking great. I may not be into comics, but I still feel a kinship with a comic collector going through a box of old comics while I'm nearby going through a box looking for old pulps and crime novels.

Just a few months ago from Craigslist I got what you see here, two additional Joe's and one Joe knockoff. Plus a giant ass Jeep and like three dozen accessories. I listed the two Joe's on Craigslist and made my money back within days. GI Joe is just a little before my time and not something I collect but this was a steal.
