Another day, another gaffe. He criticized Obama for not cutting govt spending in the 60 minutes interview. However, he criticized Obama for cutting govt spending at the 2012 convention.
On 60 Minutes, he said Obama "believed in stimulus" meaning that govt spending can create jobs. But he also argued Obama was going to kill jobs by cutting govt spending during his address to the 2012 GOP convention.
60 Minutes
Gov. Mitt Romney: The president's vision is one of a larger and larger government with trillion dollar deficits that promises everything to everyone. That's the course that he has laid out. His policy for the economy is more stimulus, more government spending. My course is very different than that.
2012 GOP Convention
His trillion dollar cuts to our military will eliminate hundreds of thousands of jobs and also put our security at greater risk. His $716 billion cut to Medicare to finance Obamacare will hurt today's seniors and depress innovation in jobs and medicines.
More on govt spending and jobs from Romney's Time Magazine interview. Cutting 1 trillion in spending in one year would put the economy into a recession or depression.
http://thepage.time.com/2012/05/23/the- ... ranscript/
Halperin: You have a plan, as you said, over a number of years, to reduce spending dramatically. Why not in the first year, if you’re elected — why not in 2013, go all the way and propose the kind of budget with spending restraints, that you’d like to see after four years in office? Why not do it more quickly?
Romney: Well because, if you take a trillion dollars for instance, out of the first year of the federal budget, that would shrink GDP over 5%. That is by definition throwing us into recession or depression. So I’m not going to do that, of course.

I seriously almost shat when he said that people should utilize the ER as a form of primary care.
It's fucking unbelievable how little he understands, not just about the reasons healthcare is so irrevocably broken, but about the real world in general.
Fuck.

LMFAO, go to the emergency room and ask for open heart surgery, chemo therapy, etc. They'll laugh and tell you to get the fuck out. Sure if you collapse they'll charge you up and send you on your way. Where I live there was a news story about a kid who could not get a cast removed because the emergency room set his leg but was not required by law to provide any followup visit. His mom wound up cutting off the cast.

ROMNEY: Well, we do provide care for people who don't have insurance, people -- we -- if someone has a heart attack, they don't sit in their apartment and -- and die. We -- we pick them up in an ambulance, and take them to the hospital, and give them care. And different states have different ways of providing for that care.
PELLEY: That's the most expensive way to do it.
ROMNEY: Well the...
PELLEY: In the emergency room.
ROMNEY: (retreats into incoherence)

Romney: "The next time you need medical care, the solution is a simple one.
Have someone on your staff drive you to the hospital of your choice.
Then, when it's time to pay, give the bill to your accountant.
What could be easier?"

You know why they don't remove it? It's considered "bad form" to remove a cast another doctor has put on. Do you believe that shit?
To be fair, ERs dont actually "set" broken bones, they just immobilize them until you can follow up with an ortho doc. Usually don't find those in the ER either, so you have tons of folks whose bones are "healing" at fucked up angles and creating more problems.
The use of the ER as a last ditch form of primary care is HUGE piece of what is wrong with modern health care. My fucking God, Romney is an ill-informed fucking liability.

Well, he didn't always feel that way. Just like every other opinion he's attached himself to, it changes fairly frequently:Stoner wrote:I seriously almost shat when he said that people should utilize the ER as a form of primary care.

n a 2007 interview with Glenn Beck, Romney called the fact that people without insurance were able to get "free care" in emergency rooms "a form of socialism."
"When they show up at the hospital, they get care. They get free care paid for by you and me. If that's not a form of socialism, I don't know what is," he said at the time. "So my plan did something quite different. It said, you know what? If people can afford to buy insurance ... or if they can pay their own way, then they either buy that insurance or pay their own way, but they no longer look to government to hand out free care. And that, in my opinion, is ultimate conservativism."

Turns out he's not just an arrogant scumbag, he's also stupid.
I'm loving this shit. We might be witnessing the end of the Republican party as we know it. Two straight presidential campaigns like this?!

Here's another example of Romney's ignorance. In May 2012 at the 47% fund raiser, he claimed the federal reserve was buying 3/4 of the govt debt and that as soon as the Fed stopped buying treasuries, interest rates would "have to go up."
Fact is the Fed has reduced their holdings of treasuries this past year and the interest rates on govt bonds have fallen.
From Sept 7, 2011 to Sept 7, 2012, the federal reserve reduced the amount of federal debt they held by 9.5 billion. The federal debt held by the public increased by 1.2 trillion during that time. 30 year bond interest rate fell from 3.26% to 2.81%.
So the "finance wizard" is wrong about everything and these are very easily verified facts. Took two minutes to check it on the internet just to prove he's a dumb ass. You would think he would take 2 minutes to look it up himself before trying to figure out how to run the country.

Audience member: The debates are gonna be coming, and I hope at the right moment you can turn to President Obama, look at the American people, and say, "If you vote to reelect President Obama, you're voting to bankrupt the United States."
Romney: Yeah, it's interesting…the former head of Goldman Sachs, John Whitehead, was also the former head of the New York Federal Reserve. And I met with him, and he said as soon as the Fed stops buying all the debt that we're issuing—which they've been doing, the Fed's buying like three-quarters of the debt that America issues. He said, once that's over, he said we're going to have a failed Treasury auction, interest rates are going to have to go up. We're living in this borrowed fantasy world, where the government keeps on borrowing money. You know, we borrow this extra trillion a year, we wonder who's loaning us the trillion? The Chinese aren't loaning us anymore. The Russians aren't loaning it to us anymore. So who's giving us the trillion? And the answer is we're just making it up. The Federal Reserve is just taking it and saying, "Here, we're giving it.' It's just made up money, and this does not augur well for our economic future.
You know, some of these things are complex enough it's not easy for people to understand, but your point of saying, bankruptcy usually concentrates the mind. Yeah, George.

What a stupid bitch - socialism...REALLY?
People who get "free" care in ERs have their bills covered by Indigent Care tax levies, which are voted into existence by taxpayers.

Romney does not have a plan.
He is not qualified to "lead this country" for the next 4 or 8 years.
