STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
Local Strippers Totally OK With Ground Zero Mosque
Dismiss 'hallowed ground' claims

(Newser) – Plans to build a mosque near the Ground Zero site in lower Manhattan have stirred outrage far and wide, but for many who work in the neighborhood, it's live and let live. "I don’t know what the big deal is," a stripper from the nearby New York Dolls club told the Wall Street Journal's Metropolis blog. "It’s freedom of religion, you know?" Adds another, who lost eight friends on 9/11, "They’re not building a mosque in the World Trade Center. The people who did it are not going to the mosque."
A patron at a betting parlor on Church Street, a block from the proposed Park51 Islamic center site, agreed that it's a sensitive issue but scoffed at the idea that the area is "hallowed ground," as Sarah Palin and others have suggested. "The bums used to sit right in front of it," he said of the former Burlington Coat Factory store that would house the mosque.

Even dingbat strippers have more common sense than most of the conservative base in this country. Can't really say I'm surprised.

Re: STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
Why does that amuse you? I don't find it very funny that 70% of this country has organized itself into some kind of modern day lynch mob.
If you count yourself in that 70% you are nothing more than a knee-jerk moron. I've yet to hear a sane, credible reason why the thing shouldn't be built.
It's much like Gay Marriage, except that majority of the country is finally coming around on that one.
Re: STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
It's funny because you simply ignore what 70% of your countrymen and women, no matter their beliefs, think. THAT is what's funny to me. Your continued arrogance on this board; it's hilarious. Your elitism and belief that you are so much more enlightened than the rest of us, while you ignore the actual facts.
You sir, are funny to me. Best of luck on the whole thing!

Re: STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
Hey CL, have you seen the vid of the anti-mosque protesters going after the guy in the Under Armor skull cap (logo clearly visible) because they thought he was a Muslim. Even though he wasn't, but rather a Puerto Rican union carpenter.
Apparently the "hard hat pledge" dudes, in their really, really clean hard hats did not recognise the Under Armor cap as something they would wear or someone they work with would wear.
So, yeah...Muslims bad and the 70% represented by these dumbfucks are all about "FREEDOM"!!!!!!
But hey, at least of all the westernised countries in the world, Turkey beats us in not believing in evolution, too.
At least the "Ground Zero Mosque" has replaced "Death Panels" this season. What's next, wingnuts?

Once upon a time, Bush, Jr. had an approval rating of 90 or so percent, too. What was it when he left office? Less than a third of that.

Of course I believe I am more enlightened than you. You aren't smart. You let an ancient book run your life, and take the rest of your banal opinions from right-wing talk radio.wylde342 wrote:It's funny because you simply ignore what 70% of your countrymen and women, no matter their beliefs, think. Why wouldn't I feel elite when looking down upon you? You make it so easy.
As far as my countrymen go, hey, that's life. The majority isn't always right. You can't possibly believe that either can you? Didn't Obama win the presidential election with a majority of the votes?
There's right and wrong, and the pointless opposition to this mosque is wrong, and unAmerican. Those who don't agree with me on this aren't as smart as me, and I am better than them.

Not really. All state referendums defining marriage as between one man and one women have passed by simple majority. In Florida, Prop 2 passed by 2 million votes. In Maine, a left wing state assembly and Democratic governor passed a law allowing "gay" marriage and then were overridden by a people's veto. And then California, a state with the largest homosexual population in the US, "gay" marriage was shot down by over 500,000 votes.Crazy Levi wrote:

Re: STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
Kind of surprised no celebs showed up to support the mosque or speak up since alot in New York City live right in that area.

To me, the Socialism viewpoint is the same as homosexuality; it's so absurd to me that I choose not to even discuss/think about it in any form. But, I'm going to lose in the long run.
Claiming that the majority should have a voice in how private property is used is a socialist concept. You're a socialist.
I would prefer that they don't build any Christian churches in New York City, as right-wing ChrisTards like Wylde have put me off that silly religion forever. But I understand that in America, even lunatics have a right to partake in whatever religion they choose.
So why get upset about it? Live and let live, that's my motto.

I'm not the one spouting off about a poll that shows that 70 % or whatever of Americans are dumbfucks .
My point was that poll numbers change. Bush's numbers are just the supreme example that show no poll is written stone.
It is interesting that you automatically assume it's a left/right thing. I thought that the right wing was all about "FREEDOM"....I just wish it was more about being rational and knowing the motherfucking difference between different sects of Islam. Oh, and not being led by bullshit prop. I wish there was this thing, i don't know, maybe I'd call it..the internet...where people can actually find out about such things. And not from political sites, but from actual educational sites. Hmmm...
So how about joe brand new hard hat and his pals accosting someone he "thought" was Muslim...a man whose only sin was to be brownish near ground zero..oh and wearing the cap he wears under his hardhat.
The terrorists are winning. How pathetic is that?
"The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street"
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and the thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own: for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

It's not, unless you're one of those that can't think for them selves. If those people want to build a mosque there and they have the funds and whatever else the City of New York requires, then they are free to do so. This is still America.vlad wrote:

Re: STRIPPERS LOVE MOSQUE...
Well, I can see why some might think that it may be in bad taste, but bad taste isn't illegal. As to the hallowed ground thing, it's 3 blocks away isn't it? Can you even see the WTC site from there? Fuck dude, it's New York. There are an awful lot of really big buildings in three blocks. Regardless, they aren't breaking any laws or civil codes as far as I know, and this is still America. I did get a kick out of the blurb I read about allowing someone to build a gay bar right next door to the mosque though. I mean, if you're gonna ride the "it's my right" wagon, you may as well ride it all the way.Crazy Levi wrote:

Whoever framed this ridiculous debate by calling it the incorrect on more than one level "Ground Zero Mosque" is a political genius. It hits all the buttons and rallies the wingnuts, taking along many otherwise intelligent people. That and the mud-slinging at the the couple who spearhead the center.
Though the effort to stop it by citing the abandoned Burlington Coat Factory as an historic building gave me a laugh.
I am embarrassed for my country, and these fuckwits freaking out about it have let Bin Laden win.

Bin Laden has won in a way, but not really. The Islamic Center will be built there. It will also be a target for extremists of another stripe because of the media circus that's been stirred up.
The Constituton is a great document, but if you want to champion it you have to realize that sometimes it will uphold your opponents on some issues. The fact that 70% polled don't understand that makes no difference.
It's freedom of religion, freedom of expression, the free use of property rights. People might be mad but there is no gray area here. They have every right to build this Islamic Center.
