Now, I'm no Harvard lawyer, but I do believe that the word "riff-raff" suggests a contemptuous attitude, sort of an elitist viewpoint, right? I mean, if you refer to someone as riff-raff, doesn't that imply that you feel that the person is beneath you?

Well, I like old words and terms and phrases. "Riff-raff" just has a more pleasant ring to it than say "libtard" or "godless socialist" or other terms I've been called. I think you are right that "riff-raff" is a term of derision from elites....but if memory serves, in this video the old dude was calling liberals "riff-raff". I was being mildly sarcastic anyway.
