If you can name any position that Democrats supported but then opposed simply because Bush adopted it, put it out there. So far there are about a dozen conservative positions that once adopted by Obama became a "prime example of his hatred for America and capitalism." The most obvious one is the health care mandate which originated in the conservative Heritage Foundation and was presented as an alternative to Hillarycare. Obama opposed it during the campaign but once he adopted it, Conservatives who tried to sell it to the American people viciously argued against it and described it as socialist, fascist, etc

actually not true on the health care. Once Sen. Scott Brown came in after Ted Kennedy died, that changed the public option debate as the numbers weren't there.
