The first Gold Top BC Rich Mockingbird ever- up for grabs!

Post by BettyC »

The Guitar: This is the first Gold Top BC Rich ever made! It's a BC Rich Mockingbird SLP, Gold Top with a Neck-Through Mahogany and Sides. Ebony Fingerboard, jumbo frets with amazing cloud Inlays. Full Crème Binding and Imperial tuners. Seymour Duncan JB (bridge) and classic 59' (neck), Tone Pros T.O.M. w/ Stop Tail, 2 volume, 2 tone, 3 way toggle and a new Hardshell Case.

Condition: BC Rich makes a tough guitar, and this one has help up wonderfully. No scratches on the front, the walnut colored finish on the back was gaff taped so there are very few scratches on the back. Mostly just dings on the corners and would be on any guitar of this body shape. However-the ebony fingerboard does have a slight crack. With Ebony being such a hard wood, this isn't too uncommon. The fingerboard has been conditioned pretty well over the past 4 years to keep it managable and there is some slight oxidation on the frets. The hardware has dulled slightly on the bridge and on the pick up covers. Let's put it this way, the guitar has been played, but not abused.

The History: Made for Acey Slade (Dope, Murderdolls, Amen Trashlight Vision) who is more of a Joe Perry/Slash BC Rich fan and not as much into Warlocks or 'V's. Acey wanted to put a vintage twist on a contemporary classic, but hates sunbursts. Gold Top!~ When he called BC Rich to put the order in, they did everything they could to convince him not to go for the gold. 'I told them I was wanted a Gold Top Les Paul shaped like a Mockingbird. According to them, BC Rich had never done a Gold Top and were pretty sure it would not look right. They day it came out of the paint booth, 2 guys at BC Rich asked me if they could buy it right there and then. It looked AWESOME!'
2005 Aceys band Trashlight Vision was up and running. In Feb they did a video for the track, 'Allergic to You' with award winning director Dale Resteghini and the guitar appears extensively in that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYxNeIVet0A). In May band mate from Murderdolls, Joey Jordison (also of Slipknot) asked him to fly to Iowa to take part on the Roadrunner United 'All Stars Session'. This was his main axe at that time and it appears in the DVD from the album, and was used on the first ever live taping on Fuse TV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JFWcApu9fY).
Regardless of who owned the guitar before, once you own it this guitar will be at the top of your collection no matter what you may already have in your arsenal.
