I think I have a workable idea for school shootings and security in any place. It uses the robotic lighting that you see at concerts and clubs.
The technology was developed by the sound/lighting company Showco, decades ago (Vari Lites). When they first started using them, Showco was very serious about not letting anyone know how they work. The Dept. Of Defense had pestered them, interested in robotic guns/soldiers. If one of those lights can change colors, intensity and movement in a fraction of a second, they could also be made to fire bullets, blast an audio alarm, send alerts, etc.
Showco finally licensed the technology, and now robotic lighting is common.
My idea is to put units in school classrooms, hallways, perimeters, etc. They would have cameras and could be programmed to detect weapons, gunpowder, certain sounds, etc. They could also be used to provide reaction, such as projectiles, (bullets/taser darts), or any number of things. Besides self contained sensors, there could also be remote control. A shooter could be taken out by someone at another location, witnessing from a monitor screen.
