I actually saw this happen once. It was a 3 sets a night cover band though. They played Cheap Trick Surrender..then 3 songs later they played Cheap Trick Surrender. No one in the crowd cared. It was already about 1am by then. Everyone was dancing, having a good time.

The Ace thing was different....everyone was like, WTF?

Europe sorta did the same thing with "Final Countdown" when that song was on fire in '86. Saw Sting last year and he opened with "Roxanne" with just him and a guitar, then played it later with the full band. He sounded great, but with such a deep catalog, why double dip?

Sting endlessly double dips on choruses, so why not whole songs?

Not saying he isn't a talented musician or songwriter, but fuck his choruses are endlessly repetitive.
