He got famous because he joined Marilyn Manson just before they dropped off.Brainy Lane wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 3:12 pm What is his signature song? Like why is he famous? What song made everyone take notice of him?

I’m not slagging the guy.
I’m just wondering why he’s famous.
What is his one song someone/anyone would know?
What’s his Crazy Train? Back in Black? Eruption? Crossroads? Satisfaction? Smoke on the Water?

Didn't we do this thread 100x when he joined Motley Crue?

Re: John 5 question
He's "famous' for a few reason:
1) Being a session guy playing a wide variety of styles with a bunch of different artists
2) Manson
3) Having one of the world's biggest Tele collections. - Legendary
4) and I think the biggest reason for his 'fame' amongst the metal-head crowd: That Metal Show. Seriously, when they did those pre-commercial guitarist "taking us to break", none of them (Lynch, Warren, dude from Tesla etc etc) came close to the shock & awe that John 5 brought. I think most people in the genre didn't give a shit about him or didn't even know he was alive until then. Those appearances put him firmly on the map.

You do realize that 99.99999% of all professional musicians don't have one of those.

He also was in that Rob Halford band when he first quit Judas Priest. Just between you and me he sorta made Rob Halford look gay.LAglamrocker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 6:52 pm David Lee Roth to Manson to Rob Zombie to ruining Crue

I like that DLR album he did it was pretty good. And where did the rich parents come into the story. At least he’s not a dick head like Kid Rock. He’s got that going for him.

We just don't like him being in Mötley.
Oh and we suggest to wear his guitar lower to look less nerdy and more guitar-heroish.

Some how he looks less gay when the rest of the outfit matches the guitar height.BernieTaupson wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:07 pm That Halford 2wo thing he did was fuckin WEIRD man. Here they are playing a gig to a bunch of people who don’t know who they are.

Re: John 5 question
He comes across as kinda dorky which is why I'm really surprised that the guys in Motley hired him. He doesn't seem to fit in.
He should go back to the face paint like he wore in Manson's and Zombie's bands.
I think it might help him a bit with the cool factor he seems to be lacking right now.

He played with KD Lang as well. That put him on the map
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Re: John 5 question
If he does have rich parents, it should be mentioned in this thread. Reason being, he doesn't have a signature song or lick or anything but yea, he's a great guitar player and has a huge Tele collection & a huge KISS collection & whatever else. He had the time to practice guitar & collect all that stuff cuz he has rich parents, not because he can write good songs. As it's been said, he hasn't a signature tune or riff or anything.

Re: John 5 question
Good question. He's marketed as some kind of guitar hero, but I've yet to hear something really interesting. I'm aware that he has decent chops and I've seen him play a few nice covers, but I've never heard anything exciting. Industrial generally has some really basic as fuck guitar playingBrainy Lane wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:53 amI do realize that 99.99999% of musicians don’tMister Freeze wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:08 amBrainy Lane wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 6:49 pm What’s his Crazy Train?
