Re: The Treatment - 80s style band from England
They seem to recycle other people’s old songs I’m not sure they have their own material. For example their ‘drink duck fight’ is basically ‘blue Nancy’ a Philip Lewis’ demo by New Torpedos from the mid 1980s, with a slightly different chorus.

Way more successful in the UK than majority of US mtv lipstick bands worshipped on this site, who didn’t even chart. There’s probably room for 2 major bands from any movement, like Coke,Pepsi then the rest. There’s probably room Nwobhm gave us iron maiden and def Leppard who went internationally hug...

Re: Poll: Do you think Bobby Liebling is cool?
Some of the music is great and he has stage presence , good front man. But cool, no. Also seems to have lived by life sponging off parents then attacked his own mom. Very not cool. The social media clips are entertaining but I don’t think just happened. They’re coinciding with tour, album I suspect ...

I cannot believe that this is seriously a topic on metal sludge? Seriously? Re: Duff McKagan:Believe in Me – did anybody like it?
‘Man in the meadow’ or whatever it’s called is good, so are a few others. Decent album a 7/10 I play it on Spotify. Back then I didn’t rate Duff as a singer cos I was used to hearing Axl or even Izzy (gruff but in tune and kept it simple). Duff sounded a bit sloppy and without melody by comparison h...

Re: new L.A. Guns - "Taste It" (teaser)
Whomever mentioned this bands lack of hooks has absolutely nailed it. Cool image and attitude in the beginning but that part was always missing. Few genuine questions - 1. How the fuck are they still interested in writing songs around these dumb riffs, 40 years in? 2. Who is this new stuff realisti...

Re: I think Metallica had more to do with music shifting in the early 90's than Nivarna
It's always been my position that Nirvana opened the jar but a shit-ton of other bands helped loosen it: Metallica, R.E.M., Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, Ministry, Soundgarden, Primus, etc. And who got that ball rolling? GUNS N' ROSES. Cobain would never admit it, but Guns N' Roses... I guess op...

One has nice acoustic guitar but gets silly especially all the gurning in the video Rooster has good harmonies but not their not exciting song Both are a bit overwrought Metallica is best when doing stuff like for whom the bell tolls or enter sandman, cartoonish and silly but good music that just dr...

‘You could be mine’ is amazing and the closest thing to Appetite on the UYI mixed-bags.
But the middle part with the rant about having lawyers on retainer is when GnR started to sound out of touch with their fan base. As a 13 year old I was not able to relate.

In conclusion ‘vigil’ is best album start to finish , but the second album benefits most from the remix remaster treatment I thought “Poet’s Moon” could have actually gotten somewhere commercially. That and “Shadowplay” are probably my favorites from Internal Exile. Thanks for your info re: those b...

No way. They have fans here. I remember in a poll here their debut album performed well against AFD! This was about 15 years ago I also vote for the band who can’t be named. Their appearence marked the end of the road for the genre. The thread is one where we all agree. So your vote is irrelevant c...

The songs ‘Edison’s medicine’ and ‘call it what you want’ are the two I enjoy and listen to but I think that they’re on different albums? 5 man acoustic jam was very fashionable in the early 90s for about 2-3 years but now long forgotten They have one that’s a copy of wanted dead or alive by Bon jov...

Sammy Hagar wins this easily for me i picture some out of touch dad with his son/daughter and their friends in the car, and he puts in a cassette tape of 'theres only one way to rock' before he pulls out of the driveway while the humiliated children try to squirm into obscurity Again, that’s Granda...

Re: When you hear the term 'dad rock' which band do you think of first?
I hear it as a British term, not a US term, so it has to be a British group that had success in 70s or 80s but then had a resurgence touring or recording in the 90s or 00s. That would be Paul Weller. So by extension, other "dad rock" but of different ages might be things like Oasis. For A...

Well I wasn’t really talking about people who are “pro Trump” or “Republican” so much as they are anti war , and who see through the Democrat facade. That would be Muslims and pro-Putin Communists. Not a big group but, I admit, quite loud. The majority still supports the war in Ukraine. Because the...
