Re: Who Didn't Regret Quitting Their Band?
Randy Bachman ultimately did not regret leaving The Guess Who, although he's said it got really dicey for him in '71 and '72 before BTO got going. Just prior to that, he had to a stay awake all night quite a bit to make ends meet.

Re: Jeff Pilson Slams Don Dokken Claim, "Desperate and Weak"
I’ve listened to a lot of Pilson interviews. He’s very intelligent and levelheaded. If he says greed and ego got in the way of Dokken’s success, then I believe him. Don says drugs hurt the cause, and he would be right about that too. I hope for one last album or tour but the odds look bad after thi...

That's their best tune. I saw Randy do it live last October, and he and his band still sounded excellent.

Once. Michael Schenker Group at Toad's Place Club in New Haven, CT in Fall 1989. Had gone up to the roof of the club with a friend as I was under 21 at the time. We had audio a little bit of visual access from a skylight. Unfortunately, when stepping only the roof from the next building, my foot hit...

There aren't any good Slaughter songs, but maybe "Fly To the Angels" gets close. "Up All Night" is one of THE worst tunes in the entire genre.

I'd have Mother Love Bone in there, but perhaps they really should be considered '80s. No "Rage" because while I like Tom and enjoy the rhythm section, I cannot abide the singer for an instant. MLB. Known for an OD, two members of Pearl Jam, and a successful tribute album. Overall, a blip...

Clark did play on it. I do remember an interview where he did say he didn't get to do as much but didn't say why. But later we learned this was when he first started show up at the studio too drunk to play sometimes. He still had some great moments on the album. Wasn't Armageddon It his big moment ...

They changed the key, and Ann sounded fine. Nancy sang a little flat once, but she was mostly in with the keyboards. But mandolin: guitars are strung in 4ths, mandolins in 5ths (like a violin). Just because there are frets doesn't mean it's right. They could have de-tuned it to match the song, but i...

Re: What really happened with Coverdale & Sykes
and all of it sucked - Blue Murder and Slip of the Tongue are fucking garbage. The Blue Murder album was fantastic, better than 1987 to me (but that's largely because the rhythm section is better). I saw the tour live, and Sykes could play all the parts really well, including a couple of 1987 tunes...

Never hated it but never loved it either. The only really good song was "Riad 'n the Bedouins," which didn't sound much like GNR.

I like Can't Dance (some of it, like Fading Lights). I despite Invisible Touch and Calling All Stations. They needed Francis Dunnery or Kevin Gilbert as the singer. Had Gilbert been over there recording with them, we'd likely still have him with us today.
