Re: Amazing albums with garbage tone

Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil I wouldn't change anything about that album. Doesn't need the big "Feelgood" sound to work. To an extent, I'd agree. That album is about 2/3 strong songs (for the genre), and it works for what it is. I do think it would be nicer with a Rock/Fraser sound, b...

Re: New Aerosmith Song Snippet (and final show(s)

It gets fun at about the 35 second mark. Boring guitar work in the chorus but a nice and memorable melody and harmony.

No. They were superb, live and studio.
For the record, I was saying they were awesome! In case that wasn’t clear.
And I meant, "no - no one will disagree with that."

Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil Dokken - Tooth & Nail I enjoyed songs on both of them but both didn't sound quite right to me, especially in rhythm guitar tone. George made up for it on T&N in that his lead tone was so good. Also, Krokus - Change of Address, which just sounded soft and pad...

Re: Refusing to listen to an album because of the art/pictures

I didn't refuse to listen because of it, but the cover of Vai's Sex and Religion is just as bad as the music inside, if not worse. One of the worst mis-steps I've ever seen from a well-known artist. He just seemed to jump into a weird, perverted, idiot world for a one record and then right back out...

This is the most Brian Wilson-esque situation we have seen since. Will we ever see someone of influence step into this matter get the woman into proper care. What’s occurring right now is deplorable. Wiping shit on the walls somethings straight out of Leavenworth. It's progressed to WAY worse than ...

We can all agree that: 1) Mike Slamer was Warrant's best guitarist 2) Steve Perry was better before the age of 50 3) Yngwie Malmsteen was better with Jeff Scott Soto 4) Lori Maddox was a huge risk. Rodney should have warned him. https://media.gettyimages.com/id/74273396/photo/los-angeles-guitarist-j...

As talented a guitarist and songwriter VV is, he needed someone to reel him in. On his own it is just noisy.
Vinnie is some sort of mentally ill. Not to complete debilitation, but it's there. This is blatantly obvious, and it's a bit sad.

Why did so many rockers turn to heroin? Especially in the 80s, when impact and addictiveness were really really really really well-understood? Here's an idea: you cannot become addicted to something you simply do not start.

Just how is he "supported?" There's no money going to Ray Gillen. (And for these, I might also guess none going to Jake E. Lee).

Asia - Voice of America (although one might argue it's really about the radio station that beamed across to Eastern Europe)

Led Zeppelin - Going To California

Robert Plant - Tie-Dye On the Highway

Scorpions - Arizona

Re: Who do you prefer vocally: Bach vs Cornell

Cornell, by far. However, I think Bach was better up in his "screamy" mode. Cornell had some of that, but it was a little harsh. But where Cornell beats him is "everything else." Particularly, Chris was way way way way better in his lower range, and he had better phrasing. Furthe...

Jellyfish - Spilt Milk
Van Halen - 1984
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Steely Dan - Aja
Tony Rice Unit - Mar West
Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries
Led Zeppelin - IV
The Beach Boys - the eventually-finished SMiLE
Rush - Power Windows
Def Leppard - Pyromania (and pretty close is High 'N Dry)

Bieler's is best here. But the real answer is: "10" by Enuff Z'nuff with "There Goes My Heart." That's one of Donnie's best songs.

I knew of EVERY band in this thread before Eddie Trunk. And I love UFO when at their best. Superb band that was eaten alive by substances and made it back to be really good at various times. But if you are wondering if some of these names would have been less-known (if not for Eddie Trunk) by metal ...

How does Richard Black make his living? There wasn't enough money in Shark Island to support him having a house, etc. Was he independently wealthy? Or have the wife working a steady job? This could be the longest thread ever. And the obvious choice, second maybe only to Quiet Riot’s catalog, is the UYI albums. But that goes without saying, so allow me to ruffle some feathers… Faster Pussycat’s Wake Me When It’s Over. Atrocious, over produced, sickeningly polished, HORNS. C’mon. Awf...
