I also picked up another UREI 530 eq. These are great on guitar. A lot of people have used them.

Yeah using a buffer can work but often you can run into the problem of not having enough control over the signal coming out of the buffer. A lot of it has to do with the level the pedals send to the amps input.
A lot of great pedals, distortions in particular, just don't work well
with Fenders.
