Re: Alex van Halen book

Brass tacks, yes or no do I even bother with this? Alex is my favorite drummer of all time. He rarely gave interviews. I spent all year excited for this and I can’t say I’ve read a single positive take on it. Only through ‘85? Full of already existing quotes? If it’s 200 pages are there even 20 page...

Re: Happy Halloween, Sludgers! Video Cover of White Zombie's "Electric Head, Part 1" with a buddy of mine

I would have started it at 1:30... that intro stuff was just wasting my time. That said, it sounds exactly like I remember the original to be, and the visuals are fun! Good job! CC Banana sighting! lol CC Banana fuck yes! We cut the intro by quite a bit from the original so I don’t disagree but I d...

Re: Is silence respect when Sludgers post their own music?

It’s interesting, has an Air vibe to it. I’m not sure if Trixter fans are gonna vibe with it, but I think it’s cool.

In my experience most folks are generally nice or at least constructive when it’s the last thing I expect since Sludge is pretty much slang for talking shit.

Happy Halloween, Sludgers! Video Cover of White Zombie's "Electric Head, Part 1" with a buddy of mine

My good friend of the past ~30 years and I donned some ridiculous costumes and recorded a cover of one of the most badass album openers of all time. He's in the goth scene, Halloween is my birthday, so we both take this holiday very seriously and unseriously. Hope some of you get a kick out of this....

It really is strange to read all those statements and how they all make use of the passive voice. Someone's making all of them feel unsafe and immoral and they can't name him or give specifics? That's such a weird way to respect someone who doesn't deserve it. Also not sure if anyone saw Tim's wife'...

Re: What is the most famous Van Halen song ?

What amazes me most is this thread is 20+ posts in and no one has yet said, “I’m sure Sammy would claim it’s one of his VH songs!”

I’m a fan of Van Hagar and I get that the correct answer is Jump but this seems like low hanging fruit here.

Re: My First Original Song In Six Years - "Dirty Lumberjack" (Lyric/Performance Video)

Popping in to say thanks again to everyone who’s checked out the song. It’s surprising and cool to get positive feedback after having not written in such a long time. Some of the criticism I don’t entirely disagree with. In response I’ll just say that this is my art and I don’t do it for money or li...

Finally a legitimate reason to "blame Trump" (for your shitty song........). I already said the song isn’t about Trump, but thanks for drawing attention to it anyway! :D Actually, that was really F'ing good. Kind of an AIC meets Sabbath Vibe. Well done. Very obscure, but reminds me of an ...

My First Original Song In Six Years - "Dirty Lumberjack" (Lyric/Performance Video)

Always fun entering the Sludge lion's den with most of the music stuff I do, but it's been awhile since I've done an original. It's political. If you've been on here for any length of time you probably know where I stand. But this isn't about any particular politician. It's about their voters. Hope ...

Re: Uncirculated Van Halen Soundboard from 1982 comes out!

It’s really cool but a lot of these old tape recordings drive my ears crazy because it’s ~1/2 step up in pitch and I have to assume that’s because the tape ran fast when it was transferred.

For whatever reason I love “That I Never Had” from the video of this show. It’s not his best song from his best album or anything, but the band is just cooking and it’s in Ozzy’s range at the time and Zakk is holding it down like a total boss. https://youtu.be/0Vosma2wU_s?si=zBv8o9zC0b5H8_XM I dig ...

It’s Ozzy’s night but what a cool and deserved moment for Zakk also. Wolf’s lost a lot of weight. Boy, I bet some Sludgers are gonna bend over backwards to reach fo...

Re: Musicians refusing to sign an album

Anyone stupid enough to ask someone to sign an album they didn't play on deserves to be ridiculed and made fun of. By other people, sure. On the street if you run into a band member during their private time, sure. Not by the band at a paid meet and greet where you’re told you can get something sig...

Re: Musicians refusing to sign an album

I read secondhand the other day that James LaBrie has refused to sign certain albums. I saw a post about their meet and greets in a FB group. Not something I’d do myself but was bored and read the thread. He apparently refused to sign someone’s copy of their first album that he didn’t sing on. Kind ...

I read this the other day and thought, “Is this a joke?”

Some public figures are so walled off in their own bubble that they seem to forget they’re not doing their audience a favor by showing up. So long as the tickets ain’t free, it’s the other way around.

Sammy lies about a lot of things and maybe he’s exaggerating, but Wolfie would not abide him straight up lying about something as heavy as making amends with Ed at the end. C’mon. This place lights up every time he goes after someone on social media. You really think he’d just let something like tha...

I don’t know if it’s the best, but I think “Sorry” from Chinese Democracy deserves a mention here.

My favorite thing about it is it’s such a good song that Slash ended up playing it several times after he rejoined the band!

Notice any backing tracks? I’m sort of conditioned to be suspicious of any band I see these days, and honestly, no. Tom does a lot of “yelling/scatting” that seemed quite varied. If he had any tracks going, maybe, it was for the Angel of Death scream or something. 99% of it was definitely live, and...
