I hate that we’re both bald and never went platinum, or at least haven’t gone platinum yet!

Re: Bad Company

I was raised on that first album. Can’t Get Enough is probably the first song I have memories of singing along to as a toddler. That song, Rock Steady, Movin’ On, Ready For Love, and Bad Company are pretty much tattooed on my brain. The Five Finger Death Punch cover of Bad Company is one of the most...

Sure! You’re a good sport and you give as good as you get, and you’ve given me a place to spout my stupid opinions and read the stupid opinions of others for most of my adult life.

I also like Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang, so don’t let this get to your head or anything

Re: Cue The tracks: Asking Alexandria: Never Gonna Learn San Antonio, Texas - August 30, 2023)

Great point Sterile! Cannot imagine what it would be like being a “guitarist” or “bassist” “for a band whose mix is a track being pushed out the speakers everything is just cut and paste. Could a truly live version of this song without any falsification could be that much more difficult!? Is this a...

Re: Cue The tracks: Asking Alexandria: Never Gonna Learn San Antonio, Texas - August 30, 2023)

Yeah, it’s sad. I don’t care that I’m old, it bums me out when “live bands” are this fucking slick and safe and some people are still floored by it somehow. [in old man voice] Back in my day most of the bands that used tracks had an intentionally mechanical sound. Static-X, for example. It was almos...

Re: Looks like Pantera will sellout MSG tonight!

The market has spoken. Hope they put out new material. “The market has spoken” indeed. After tomorrow I’ll have seen this version of the band 8x. I have not heard a single negative thing from anyone who’s actually been to any of these shows. I was vehemently opposed when this was first announced in...

Re: Looks like Pantera will sellout MSG tonight!

It was a great show and the sound was killer. There were a lot of tickets left last week and prices got dropped quite a bit, but place was pretty darn packed and it was a fun time. Probably meant a lot to Zakk and Charlie playing their home turf and Phil went out of his way to say he’s glad he gets ...

Re: Favourite rock/metal album from 1992

Had to go with Rage just because it’s such a definitive album for them.

Core, Dirt, Vulgar, I & W, and Countdown are all classic and amazing albums but all those bands have other albums that measure up. Rage have one near-perfect album and two very good albums.

Pretty good / if I was marrying someone and was gonna have in-laws here, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

Told my dad I liked Madonna in A League Of Their Own and so for my 10th bday he got me Like A Virgin and Like A Prayer. Like A Prayer skipped so I exchanged it for The Immaculate Collection.

Get A Grip was the first album I bought, a few months later.

Re: KETTLE BLACK ... Mudvayne singer bags on bands who RELY on tracks, as he RELIES on a costume? #bitchpleez

I guess I’m left wondering what constitutes a costume because makeup and significant hair alterations are part of most beloved Sludge bands. My issue is if you present yourself as a professional singer or guitar player at a ‘live performance’ and you’re pretending to play live or getting so much hel...

Re: Do KISS feel inferior as Musicians?

Feeling inferior requires self-awareness.

Only Gene seems to have any of that, he’s a decent musician, I’m guessing he doesn’t collaborate because he admits money is his only motivation and the price has never been right for him to bother and he admittedly doesn’t have friends.

When told to by the frontman, if I’m in the mood.

Gotta say, crowd participation has gotten especially weak in recent years. Pantera’s headlining set that I saw last summer is the only show I can think of in a very long time where everyone around me was having a spirited yell-along fest.

Izzy already mentioned, but neither Slash nor Duff seem to have regretted quitting GN’R and both went back on their own terms. John Frusciante and Zack de la Rocha both quit their bands multiple times and came back on their own terms. Maybe John regretted it the first time but doesn’t seem like he d...

Re: KERRY KING: Single, lineup and album release date

The song is exactly what I expected and there’s nothing wrong with that. Kerry King is supposed to sound like Kerry King. Decent drum mix, I like how the toms are panned in particular. I can’t get over how the logo looks like a penis going through an X. I can’t imagine the live set won’t be at least...

Re: Guitarists rate this playing on a 1-10 scale

Another vote for a 4. Horrible reverbed-out white boy tone, not a lot of feel, sitting down and concentrating for a solo that isn’t particularly difficult. He’s got basic competence I guess. It’d be a 3 but technically this is an improvement for MGK’s cover song skills vs. his butchering of “Aerials...

Ehhhh according to everything I’ve read Roth could be quite the moody malcontent as well.

As far as the public knew (VH’s ‘image’ as thread title says), Eddie was fun. He always radiated positivity onstage. Mike also obviously.

I will always maintain that “A Change Of Seasons” is the proper starting point. Perfect mix of proggy and heavy and it’s good songwriting, to the extent that a 23 minute song can be considered songwriting. I’m not much into the Mangini era, although I randomly became obsessed with the song “Pale Blu...
