Re: Super rock Tokyo 1984
How did that talentless hack Michael Schenker get his crappy solo band on this bill? And what in the holy fuck was his singer (RIP) wearing?? I think MS is a great guitarist, but the songs I just can’t get in to. The Schenk is one of the all-time greats! This track listing on here is weaksauce tho....

A much better band than Queensryche. Ray is a severely underrated singer. I would’ve loved to have seen them and King’s X on tour in support of Symmetry and Gretchen or seen them open for any number of arena bands from Rush to Scorpions to Metallica

Re: Twisted Sister vs KIX
Discography wise, I don’t find either band to be overly amazing. Cartoon clown shoe show aside, I have to give TS the edge with You Can’t Stop, Stay Hungry and Suckers. I wanted to love Kix but their albums always fell short for me. I remember rushing out to buy Blow My Fuse on cassette which I stil...

Twisted Sister vs KIX
These two east coast bands had very similar careers and arch’s. TS had the bigger hit single but they both formed in the 70s, slugged it out in clubs and had some moderate success in the 80s. Why is KIX, who released a string of very mediocre albums in the 80s so highly praised around here while TS ...

NFW. Mick was a butcher as a soloist, but he wrote some super heavy riffs. TS were like QR - played dives for 2l10 years before their surprise MTV success, then they were here today, gone later today. Nikki wrote the majority of the super heavy riffs. Mick wrote Girls Girls Girls. Nothing against t...

Re: Tom Werman: “Twisted Sister Were Among the Least Proficient Musicians…”
JJ sucks and always comes off like a jerk. AJ and Eddie always seem nice. Dee is a primadonna but he’s one of the better ones at his job. TS were a better live band than Ratt, Quiet Riot, Crue, Dokken. TS never had the sales those bands did because of their clownish image. Ojeda wasn’t EVH or Yngwie...

Re: Best 80’s Metal in movies
That came out in the 90s. And? Agree. 80s music/style didn't instantly die on 12/31/89. As we've discussed on this forum ad nauseum , there was definitely some leakage. The OP even stated 80s and “early 90s.” Anyone who is old enough to remember knows 92 was a transitional year and 93 was the year ...

Re: David Lee Roth, Cinderella, Extreme Tour 1991
I didn’t get the backlash then and I still don’t now. It spilled over. Billy Idol’s career hit the wall too. Everything about 80s pop culture got shit on. From movies and music to television shows. It was mostly coming from MTV and it trickled down hill. It was cool to hate on and ridicule the 80s....

Re: What's your least favorite song by Canadian heartthrobs "RUSH"?
I'm watching A Show of Hands and man, I really don't like the song "Big Money." It really has none of the qualities that made Rush great: It's repetitive, the lyrics are trite, it doesn't rock. Real high hoser factor, eh. Up next: "Marathon." Now that's a song, lads. I was alway...

Based on my experience, 85-89 was the pinnacle of hair metal. It was the perfect storm of one big party with MTV, teens w/ newly discovered testosterone, spring break, etc.... During this era the pre/early teens were listing to Menudo, Wham/George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, etc..., so by the time the 9...

He was above all those other guys with the exception of RR and maybe George Lynch
George fell down the rung for me after his Lynch Mob days
Randy is still an even tie with EVH. Randy accomplished in two albums what many
can’t in their whole career.

Saw this show at Miami Arena. Extreme was great, but Nuno was having guitar issues during More Than Words. He smashed the guitar and left Gary in the middle of the song. The crowd sang the rest of the song with Gary acapella. It was pretty cool. I’ve never been a huge Cinderella fan, but they kicke...

Yep. Dizzy Dean quit Britny Fox around the same time to make a blues-rock album with Blackeyed Susan and it sank like a stone. That’s because Dizzy was a low rent, wannabe Tom Keifer who hopped on the glam metal band wagon only to hop off in the wake of the Black Crowes first record going multi pla...

Wait, you're using those examples a things that DON'T suck? :D No, I’m listing them as hypocrisy on fans part. Not so sure, as he left a band that was more or less dysfunctional and he moved on to put together his dream band and had a couple of successful tours and full creative freedom. obviously he didn't regret it in 1984, but you can bet yer ass that he was having seconds thoughts in 1994 when &qu...
