Rick Rubin couldn't be bothered. The drum machine on Manhunt is rubbish, for example.

Re: Great musicians, lousy band

Don’t hate on me, I know there are fans here, but I never paid much attention to or really liked Helix at all, but my band’s manager booked shows back in the ‘80s and we’d help load gear and one of the shows was Helix (late ‘80s). No idea who the drummer was, but he did a solo and we were all looki...

Re: Great musicians, lousy band

Paul Ryder (R.I.P.) from Happy Mondays was a great bass player, the rest of the band was nowhere near as musicians. In fact some were poor, especially singer and keyboard player.

Speaking of tv . . . In the 70s Reading all of this makes me understand why all kids in Sweden admired and wanted to go to America in the 70s and 80s. It was really a different world. The 70s were pretty crap here, the rapid economic decline notwithstanding. Sweden dropped from 4th place in the OEC...

Re: Can a half hit wonder have a long career? Give examples

Yes. Nada Surf is one of my favourite bands. They had a small hit with their first single Popular. However they have been together over 30 years, with the same lineup too. I'm finally seeing them live this month, but they have toured a lot in Europe over the years. They have made ten records, which ...
