Re: Burton Cummings is done f'ing around

Unfortunately, the.bogus act owns the name it sounds like. Owning the name doesn’t really help if you can’t play the old songs, which they no longer can since the publisher, Burton Cummings, pulled the performing rights license. It’s a precedent in the industry that can have far reaching ramificati...

Re: Burton Cummings is done f'ing around

Greg Smith, who played in bands we discuss here, is the current bass player in the Guess Who. He has some great Sludge on his FB page, calling out Burton. I see a lot of self-serving nonsense on that page. This guy Greg is a hired hand who's collecting a check, nothing more. While I feel for him th...

Re: KERRY KING: New song "Residue" out now!

I have the album for review purposes. It’s good, but there are no curve balls coming. It’s exactly what you would expect. It sounds like latter day Slayer’s and latter day Death Angel’s baby. If you like Slayer and DA’s last albums you will like this, if you don’t you won’t. I’m giving it a 7 to 7.5...

Re: Tony Montana on the TPF Show addressing recent Jack Russell stuff, + the Bassist is a Hot Head

Do you guys think Jack doesn't know what's going on? He's not senile but everyone else is to blame because he won't face reality. It's no different than Paul DiAnno, Ozzy, Bon Jovi or Paul Stanley. Like them, he knows. It's his pride and vanity dragging him on that stage, not those scabs. Fuck him....

That’s brutal!

How does anyone think it’s right to have Jack out on the road? Be it Jack, bandmates, promoters, booking agent, or management.

I know there’s a lot of opinions on Jack, but I would not want to wake up every day and walk in his shoes.

Re: Is KK sinking all his money into KK's priest?

Music for Priest fans who think Painkiller is their best album. That’s who the real Priest is catering for as well. Not at all. If you listen to the new album the best part of it is the diversity. There’s absolutely elements of Painkiller, but also elements of Turbo/Ram It Down, the reunion era, th...

Funny how it’s never successful artists, who wrote and performed great originals, who have these gripes. Always a D-lister who’s jealous the cover band draws 5x the crowd and $ he does. Here’s an idea… be better, or accept your lot in life.

Re: How "at capacity" do venues need to be at to make $$$?

A lot of the answer has to do with if it’s a corporately (often Live Nation) owned venue, or a privately held club. In the case of a Live Nation owned venue, they are the promoter, the ticket seller, and a venue. So even though there’s overhead/staffing/etc. to pay for the venue, they are paying the...

An absolutely amazing release for any band, let alone a veteran band. Heavy moments, melodic moments… a very diverse record; well played and produced, with Halford in fine voice (admittedly with “help” I’m sure). Fans from every era can enjoy this record. 8.5/10 PS - blows KK’s Priest away. THAT was...

Worst Crüe album. Total botched comeback attempt. Instead of giving old fans the nostalgia they wanted they tried to be modern and failed epically. Give me New Tattoo or SOLA any day.

It’s a 8/10 for me. Thinking man’s metal. Bruce challenges the listener… it’s not paint by numbers metal (a la KK or Accept). It takes several listens to take everything in, establish favourites - and those favourites will evolve. It’s nowhere near Accident of Birth or The Chemical Wedding, but it’s...

I was at Ray Gillen’s third show with Black Sabbath. Pre-internet days, and nobody knew Glenn Hughes was out, nor who the new guy was. It took a review in the local paper, two days later, to provide the story… and the mystery singer’s name.

It’s a great record… OK, a good one. Bold for them, and appropriate for the times. The only people I know who don’t like it are the heavier/faster true metal meatheads whom feel threatened by anything melodic and argue that Painkiller is the best metal record of all time.
