The Mercury Men (10/10) Technically not a movie but a series of 6 - 9 minute episodes which automatically advance to the next episode. Free on Hulu. Retro science fiction, B&W, very well done and made for less than $10,000. http://www.hulu.com/the-mercury-men http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images...

Total Recall - 8/10. Based on the reviews, a lot of people aren't impressed with this movie. But I thought it rocked. Jam packed with action, cast PERFECTLY, a soundtrack that really intensified the various moods of the film, and a gorgeous, well-imagined CGI world. I will admit it didn't have as mu...

Goon: 4/5 I really liked this movie. I also liked the fact that Sean William Scott FINALLY played a different type of character for a change. He wasn't his usual Stiffler self... he just played a regular, calm guy that wasn't good at anything but fighting. Liev Shreiber was pretty awesome in this t...

Really liked this movie. Brendan Gleason was subtly hilarious as the small town Irish policeman, and Don Cheadle was finally in a role that was believable for him.

Meet Bill (2007) - 9.5/10. Great, great little film with Aaron Eckhardt. Sort of a "coming of age" movie for 40 year olds, but with a quirky plot a little like American Beauty but lighter and funnier. He's forced to mentor a high-school kid who sort of gets him in trouble but also sort of...

Re: Rate the last movie you saw

Margin Call - well acted, pretty riveting. 9/10. Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - okay, liked Daniel Craig. Flow of the movie was choppy and it could have been a lot easier to follow. 6.5/10. John Carter - Loved it. Gets a bad rap because Disney can't keep costs under control. 9/10. We Bought a Zoo - ...

Horrible Bosses - 4/10. Too stupid to be believable and not funny enough to be entertaining. All the funny shit is in the previews. Everything Must Go - 8/10. If you like Indies that move slow but keep you interested, this one is absorbing. Will Ferrel dials it down several notches and that's a goo...

Drive - so boooooooring. Walked out after 35 minutes. There's almost no dialogue in the movie, as far as I saw. Bryan Cranston was of course good in his role, but this movie sucked. I hear it "explodes with violence" later into the movie but I couldn't care less about any of it by the tim...

500 Days of Summer - 8/10. Enjoyable alternative-styled boy meets girl movie. Zooey is just what you expect in this. Year of the Dog - 8/10. Dog lovers will relate to this story of how Molly Shannon goes a little off the rails after losing her dog. More of an Indy film with humor than a comedy. Joh...

Too Big to Fail - HBO dramatization of a critical period in the 2008 Financial Crisis. 9/10. Riveting, chilling - plays like a thriller. Great cast. Take Me Home Tonight - Tries and fails to be a fun 80's movie. Topher Grace doesn't have the charisma to play the John Cusack role, the obligatory fat best friend didn't have the charisma to pull of his role, and the whole script and movie fell flat. Apparently it only made $6 million at the box of...

Edge of Darkness - 8/10.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...

I just put one of those EVH Frankenstein Humbuckers in a Jackson V, I saw some good reviews on it and was curious. It's okay I guess, but doesn't touch my HM Strat's humbucker. It needs a little compression to tighten it up for my tastes. I also recently put a set of Texas Specials in an old Strat....

What happened to the old thread? That's a nice looking guitar. I just started hot-rodding this Kramer Striker Reverse. Got it for $250 on MusicYo.com and have 1) shaved the neck down so it's fairly thin, 2) replaced the bridge pickup with a Mighty Mite Motherbucker, 3) installed a 2mg volume pot, 4)...
